Q:My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds, browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks
It's hard to say without pics but as long as there are a few similar colors between the two then I'd say they'd work great - after all we are talking about two seperate areas in one big space so I wouldn't say they'd have to match exactly.
Q:Isn't it better to place a CPU on a desk or at least elevate it so that it doesn't touch a carpet or floor? (Even if the carpet is not shag?) I am trying to prove this to my boss but he insists that the computers remain on the rug. Keep in the mind that the computers have 3 intake fans, and a few outtake fans. They are placed in a church/office setting where kids could incidentally kick the computer or something. I also know that when computers are closer to the floor, they take in more dust. Am I not correct, or at least partially correct?
Yes. Laptops certainly. This is because carpets have a very uneven surface, and they are spongy. What happens is the carpet will rest against the air intakes (which are on the bottom) and restrict air flow in. It also picks up a large amount of dust since carpet has a large surface area to trap such particles. If on a hard desk, the feet provide some elevation for air to move freely underneath so the fan can suck it up for cooling. This is desirable, however, computers will work pretty much anywhere.
Q:does anyone know how to do this? my friend boils fabuloso and dips her mop and scrubs. any other suggestions?
i echo the qeustion in the 1st answer. why not just rent a steam cleaner?
Q:I'm looking to buy black carpet for my bed room. I understand it's high maintenance etc. I would just like to know where to purchase it, online or in a store,.
I looked at yahoo several ways and the only black carpet was in 40 inch wide rolls for auto interiors. You will just have to look at local carpet stores and make lots of calls. There must not be a lot of demand except for patterned area rugs, There are a lot of them in black and taupe or black with a billiard ball motif.
Q:When I first moved into my apartment it reeked like cat urine and the carpets where filthy. I shampooed the carpets using a water and laundry detergent but the carpet still looks bad. I have read about using vinegar and I tried it on one spot but I dont know that I used the right amount because it didnt seem to work. Does anyone have a recipe that will work on very, very, very dirty carpet????
You need to get the carpet professionally cleaned. Your cleaning added soap to the carpeting. Your portable did not extract the soap out. Imagine putting laundry detergent on your shirt and not rinsing it. Walk on it for a few days and see how dirty it gets. Have the Professional use DE FOAMER. Call 1800 chem dry Once the carpets are clean do not use Spotters with soap in it. Home depot carries Chem Dry Stain Extinguisher Do not use vinegar unless you know what the stain is and what you are doing. It is an acid. If you have an acidic stain and use vinegar you increase the pH. We use vinegar to help correct pH problems when a carpet discolors from previous cleaners. We also use litimus paper to check for ph.
Q:How to clean coral velvet correctly?
Hand washing: first to the container into the warm water of about 30 degrees Celsius, and adding amount of neutral detergent; then the carpet in the container to soak, soak for about 20 minutes, then gently rub repeatedly, the blanket stains released to sewage; reuse of water repeatedly washed clean, squeezed out of the water. Finally, a dry in the shade, not exposed to the sun.
Q:Is there any easy and/or quick ways to get paint out of carpeting? We painted a bedroom this last weekend, but some paint leaked through the sheets and is on the floor now. Any ideas?
depending on color of carpet use opps off use in closet or hidden place also lemon juice works opps off can be bought at home depot
Q:Okay, i accidently spilled purple koolaid on a white carpet :-(. Any ideas of how to get it out?
hard one that try milk let it soak fot a bit though.
Q:My mother recently passed away. I had prepaid her rent for a full year. The bedroom had several stains on it and I recognize the carpet needed to be replaced, and I'm OK with paying for it. The bedroom is around 200 square feet in Connecticut. The landlord took the opportunity to replace the carpet with hardwood. He told me the carpet would have cost $600 installed but he paid extra for the hardwood out of his own pocket. The carpet that was there previously was the cheapest contractor grade material you can imagine. I have a hard time believing it cost $600 at $3 a square foot for cheap carpet installed. Should I be pressing this? I figured it would be $300 - $400, max, for similar off-white basic carpet.
Is there hardwood flooring underneath the carpet? If so, it would be refinishing job which can be between $1.50-2 sq foot. Otherwise, if it is an installation job, you're looking at about $3 sq foot plus materials
Q:I dropped my hot iron on my carpet. It left an iron burn mark on my brand new carpet. Do I need to replace the entire carpet? Or is there a solution to this?
Yes there is a solution~Buy an area rug and cover it! Or if your really brave and have some extra carpet left over, take a utility knife and cut the area of material out that was burned. Use the area of carpet you cut out as your 'template to cut the new piece of rug out. Hot glue the new piece in place. Purchase a good quality glue stick at your local hardware store (not the craft quality glue sticks). Also check with your carpet installer, they will also do the repair by removing the spot and bond it in place.
