Wow. First you need to kill the mildew. I would spray it with Lysol so that you saturate the wet spot. You need to make sure that the padding underneath the carpet will be clean and dry, so you may even need to lift up the carpet to check the padding. If the water has saturated through to the padding, you need to Lysol that too. Then blot it with a towel to get as much of the moisture out as possible, and turn a fan on that spot and leave it for a couple of days until you are sure it is completely dry. Then work some baking soda into the carpet and vacuum it up.

Q: hi there, i just purchased a yoga dvd (to do at home), and i was wondering if it can be done on carpet (as my whole house is carpeted!) will it be bad to do it on carpet? if it is: Carpeting can be too soft and slippery, and using yoga mats on carpet can be problematic because they tend to bunch up and are often feel too “squishy”. Q: I have a dark tan/light brown carpet. I dropped some black eyeshadow and it got kicked about and now it's in the carpet. I really really need to clean it because I move out soon and don't want to have to pay for a whole entire cleaning. Anyone have any remedies to help? Thank you!: The hardware store will carry a product called Goof Off which will remove almost anything from carpeting without ruining it. It comes in spray bottles and liquid--vaccuum up as much as you can, really well, then sponge it onto the stains and wash afterwards with soap and water. That stuff will come right out. Then vaccuum it thoroughly again to remove any soap residue. This stuff even removed nail polish from my carpeting and you couldn't tell it was ever there.

Q: Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Q: I have a 5x8ft rug on my bedroom floor and It seems like every other day it is crooked and I have to readjust it to be square with my bed. WHY DOES IT KEEP MOVING? You can rent a carpet shampooing machine- but dont use the cleaner that comes with it- its worthless. Use 1/2 ammonia per 1 gallon of HOT water, and use the machine. dont be afraid of the smell, it comes out when it dires. This is how I clean my carpets.
