Q:I disassembled and cleaned my brakes with a brake cleaner because one piston wasn‘t retracting and the brake was dragging. I just need to know what kind of grease or lub to use on the pistons. Hyosung GT250R.
Do not use anything other than brake fluid. Make sure the piston and bore are clean. Ever wonder what makes the piston retract? As it moves forward during braking it slides through the O ring seal causing it to twist . Upon release of the brake lever/pedal the O ring un twists and forces the piston back into the cylinder. This requires friction between the O ring and the piston. You can see why lubricants would be a bad idea. Good luck.
Q:By beginner I mean driving on the streets. You can leave out safety gear like helmets and such as I‘ve got that covered as well as basic operation of a motorcycle. I‘d like to know stuff like: How do you pass a semi on the freeway? Will their be a large air gust like in a car when I do so? and What part of the lane should I get in to pass the semi? Tips on quick braking would be helpful too. As well as ant experiences you may have learned the hard way. My bike is an 1978 Suzuki DR 370 enduro.
I personally would recommend an older bike something from the early to mid 80's to start out with. They can be had for about $1000 US dollars all day long in good running condition. The bikes are the Honda CM400/450, the XS 400 (Yamaha) and the Kawasaki EN450. They are good reliable, bullet proof little bikes that with proper maintenance will run forever. As for operation of a bike-well that takes practice. Like all worthwhile things in life, practice practice practice. None of us came out the womb riding and we all have spent many hours perfecting our co-ordination of right hand-letting off the front brake, right foot letting off the back brake, gently rolling on the throttle while gently letting go of the clutch. find a school parking lot, empty level field etc and practice with what ever bike you get. The great thing about a 25 yr. old bike (mid 80's) is that WHEN you drop it, you will not feel so bad (as oppossed to a new bike) the old bike will already have it's share of nicks, dings and scratches in it. Besides the only thing likely to happen is perhaps a broken turnsignal on the old bike, vs a new bike like say a 250 ninja which can scratch it, break the body plastic and damage a turn signal or two.
Q:Electric motorcycle comes with oil brake or disc brake, you will choose which kind of brake car, the two car brake system dominance is the majority
Hello, the general electric car only disc brake or drum brake, there is no so-called oil brake, perhaps the oil brake is the hydraulic disc brake it, two similar, which of which
Q:are brakes power assisted? it seems to me that i should be able to always feather the brakes. i recently read an 2005 ducati st3 review that said brakes were prone to locking up, so i passed on the bike, ABS stuff is relatively hard to find and more expensive, any insight appreciated
Who Invented The Waffle Iron
Q:What is a bicycle ring? Flat circle brake system is divided into several different what specific introduction under the disc brake, ask the next ring on the number of bike and what impact?
There are cantilever brakes
Q:Hey guys and girls, when im out riding on my Motorcycle Move than 20mintues, my Left Brake Leg Say‘s to Cramp/ go numb, why is that, its put me off from Riding, is there a website how my legs should be, as my brakes are touchy im scared im going to brake when Accelating
It may satisfy your mind, but the way your engine is designe to operate is best for the engine. Car manufacturers spend millions of dollars in designing and research in order to build the best possible automobile. Leaving it stock is your best bet.
Q:a high performance road bike with disc brakes appeals to me, a bike I would not race and would put in a couple hundred miles a week witham I insane?
A road bike with disc brakes? - You're not insane but. . . . . . Please understand the following. A standard roadbike (lets say 25c tyres) has very little contact with tarmac, a few cm? at most, - it is so easy to lock up wheels using standard calipers, a disc coupled with the relatively low weight of a road bike, - would almost certainly guarantee it !!!! You are basically trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist and creating another more dangerous side-effect! Speak to anybody who has used standard brake pads on carbon rims !!! They will have a few stories to tell ! Ok someone will point out that some cyclocross bikes have them but lets not confuse the issue, their purpose is different as the rims are often caked with mud. Good thinking and good question but modern dual pivot calipers are more than adequate. Enjoy your riding mate. .
Q:A motorcycle is moving at 32 m/s when the rider applies the brakes, giving the motorcycle a constant deceleration. During the 4.0 s interval immediately after braking begins, the speed decreases to 14 m/s. What distance does the motorcycle travel from the instant braking begins until it comes to rest?I‘m completely stumped. Anyone have a way to solve this?
Begins braking at a rate of 32 m/s and after 4 seconds it is going 14 m/s First, just find the difference between 32 and 14 which is 18 So, the bike decelerates 18 m/s in 4 seconds. Now, to find rate of deceleration divide 18 by 4 18/4 4.5 So the rate of deceleration is 4.5 m/s Now, go back and finish up. It begins braking at 32 m/s and comes to a rest at 0 m/s The difference from 32 to 0 is 32 32/rate of deceleration 32/4.5 7.111111111.s So, if you're rounding, the answer is 7.1 s I hope this helps!
Q:Recently my front brakes locked up on a motorcycle. I was told that the front brakes caliper needed to be replaced. The brakes stay closed and will not release. The fluid is correct. Is it better to replace the caliper or rebuild it? It is the kind of brakes with pads.
I just had the same problem with my rear brakes. It calls for a re-build. That involves removing the brake pistons, and replacing a couple of o-ring seals. If you do it yourself the total cost is under $50, depending on how many seal are required. A new caliper costs a couple hundred dollars.
