We have dyed millions of yards of carpets during the last 20 years in more than 200 locations in USA and 8 other countries. I just want people to know it is a viable option to carpet replacement.

In my state prices vary a lot, but the cheapest price can be gotten with a little haggling at Goodwill and my cost of this used bedroom rug cost me just $20. If Goodwill is not available where you live then try thrift stores or the Salvation Army Thrift Store for sales and or auctions. You could save lots.

- You need to have the carpet and padding that is wet pulled up and run a blower on it. I do not mean tear out the carpet and padding just lift it up so the blower will reach the wet area. Equipment rental places have them or some carpet cleaning companies use them also. Blowers are specifically made to dry carpets etc. it is not just a big fan. You need to make sure the subfloor (the plywood or concrete that is under the padding) is dry also. If there is already a bad smell you might want to spray the area under the carpet with mildew remover/bleach. DO NOT get any on the carpet ONLY underneath.

- You can figure between $1.50/sqft - $4.00/sqft + installation, just depending on what type of carpet you choose. I just put some in my house that was about 1500sqft worth of carpet and paid $5500 total, and that wasn't that nice of carpet. I would shop around, yes it's nice to have some companies come to your house, but you should get several quotes and use them against each other as a bargaining tool. Good luck.
