Q: I have a light weight rug on top of a thick wall to wall carpet? I have tried to use padding made for this purpose but it does not work. The rug continues o bunch up and not lay flat.Thanks: Why dont you get some self adhiesive velcro and stick it to the back of the rug and on the carpet then it wont move.

Q: whats the difference between the two? i've done latch hooking but im wondering if rug hooking is the same thing or close?: 2 differences, first you don't get precut yarn with rug hooking, you use a skein or ball of yarn, starting from the back with your hook on the top, pull the yarn through, making a continuous line. 2nd the hook in rug hooking does not have the latch over the hooky part. I did quite a few latch hook projects and tons of fun. I just recently learned rug hooking while on vacation. At first it is a little harder, getting a even tension and so that the pile of yarn on the top is all even and not splitting the yarn. Q: A large jar type candle fell over and a large amount of melted candel wax pouring all over the carpet, and it has hardened.: Place paper towel over the wax that needs to be removed, then, run a medium-heated iron over the wax and it will be picked up by the paper towel. You'll need to do this quite a few times to get all of it up, but after you do, it'll look good as new :)

Q: i washed my area rug with a little soap and water due to the fact it has spilled milk and puppy pee on it. i was wondering why it has a sweet but yet funny smell and how to get rid of it cause its not in just one spot can i wait for it to dry sprinkle some baking soda on it then rub it in and vacuum i washed this thing when it was 80* and bright and sunny out: It may be an issue of what your rug is made of. I had a similar problem with a synthetic rug and I had to hang it outside for weeks to get the stink out of it (we'd used a steam cleaner 4 times on it so we knew it was clean). Make sure you've gotten all the soap out of the carpet because that can actually attract more dirt! Also try cleaning the surface the rug was on. Sometimes the smells can get trapped there too. Q: Just wondering if anyone knows a product that will loosen carpet glue without ruining the finish on a terrazzo floor... the previous owners of our house covered up the terrazzo with carpeting and glued down the padding... not a lot of glue, but enough for me to say bad words, and I'd really like to take some of the carpeting out, but can't afford to have someone else come in to refinish the terrazzo at this point...Anyway, does anyone know of anything I could use?: The extension handle on the scraper will help your back from getting too sore. I spent many a day (between the ages 19-23) scraping carpet/vinyl glue off of sub-floors and tile. I don't envy you your task! (lol) PS- Removing the old carpet is going to improve the overall health of your home. Old carpeting is the #1 cause of asthma and other air-born illness's. When we moved into our home the FIRST thing we did was remove and replace the carpeting. (At that time we could not afford to replace with real wood floors.) 4 years ago we found some tongue and groove laminate flooring (from all places) at Sams Club. It was super simple to install and the price was RIGHT! So, now we have wood flooring all in the upstairs area's of our home. Wood or Tile flooring is awesome. It's healthier easier to keep clean than carpet.

Q: I have a rug in my bathroom, the fluffy kind with the rubber bottom that you step out on after you get out of the shower. It's kind of funky and needs to be washed, but I don't know how I'm supposed to wash it. Can I just throw it into the washing machine like a towel as long as I run it on the cold cycle? And if so, can I dry it in the dryer or does it need to hang dry? Thanks for your help!: It depends on the quality of the rug. I've had several, they can all be washed in the machine, but some have been ruined in the dryer (shredded rubber backing). The best thing to do is wash it and let it air dry. Hang it over something and it will dry pretty quickly.
