Hi there, What kind of rugs are you looking for? Besides size and patterns, also think about the use for it.. Machine-made area rugs are for example a lot cheaper, but the quality is a lot less then with for example a hand-knotted rug or tufted one. If you plan to place your area rug in a place with high traffic, considder more a hand-knotted rug or a tufted rug. If it's for a bedroom, a machine rug would be fine. Now-a-days, all types of area rugs come in all kinds of patterns (or one solid color if desired), so focus more on what type of area rug you're looking for, what the budget is you like to spend on it and how long you would like to keep it. If you plan to make this a one-time purchase, do not buy a machine made rug, but if you just like a rug that will last you for a few years, it might do. I suggest to go to a local area rug dealer and explain them what you're looking for. Prices vary a lot from $80,- to $80.000 and even more! So there will always be something for you to be found. You can usually remove spilled nail polish with scissors, but you have to wait until the polish is completely dry. Then snip the polish off with sharp scissors. Just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to do just one or two fibers at a time...not a whole clump. Dissect any clumps first by cutting them in half or thirds. This will work unless you have already used nail polish remover and have worked the nail polish into the carpet. Also...cutting the nail polish works on shag or plush carpet, but not Berber or loopy carpet. Good luck.

Q:I have purchased wool rugs which I really like but they have an odour and we have stepped on prickly objects that, when searched for, turn out to be similar to twigs (approx. an inch or more in length) or seeds woven into the wool. The rugs come from a very reputable rug importer that operates in the United States as well as Canada so I'm somewhat surprised at what appears to be poor quality and am considering returning them. Hello Lady, go to a paint store and there they have a chart that show the colors they have. Pick up a few of the colors tabs you like and take them home and look at them on your wall. You can get a pretty good idea of what color you will want. For your purple carpet, have you thought of a cream color,or an off white, , then you could add a picture or two on the wall, like a picture of a horse or horses, butter flies or even pictures of the children.. Look in magzines for pictures of different ones. Or even make a small hanging quilt to hang on the wall. That would change the roon for the little boy and girl. If it was me painting the wall I would not try to blend the painted wall to the carpet. That is a hard thing to do. I would say go for the cream color walls with dark purple carpet. Look for pictures that you can fram your self. Oh i think I would paint the wood work in the bedroom the same color as the wall, if you paint it with the cream color. /what do you say? Q:My cat is 2 1/2 yrs old and I've had him since he was 6 months old. Within this past couple of months he started pooping for some reason on one of my kitchen rugs. I've tried everything to correct this. I've used Nature's Miracle, Vinegar, other pet odor removers, put food in the spot so he would avoid the area, and not only changed litters but changed to scoopable. NOTHING has helped!! At first changing the litters seem to help and I scooped it out every couple of days. My only other choice is to scoop it out every day and/or put him in a cage for a week all day long with his own litter to try and break the habit. Other than that I feel I've run out of options! HELP...I'm at my wits end!!!

Q:I haven't vacuumed my carpet in over 2 months and its really dirty. I know its disgusting but I hate this flat so much and I rarely come here, just to sleep. My room mate has a vacuum but its a standing up one and I hate those which is why I hate doing it plus my room is small and has a lot of stuff in it (huge walldrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, bedside table, 2 person sofa, storage boxes, 2 chairs). I would completely empty the room use a good vacuum to clean it out thoroughly you might want to go over it a few times, if it still seems dirty buy or rent a good carpet cleaner and remember to follow up with a plain water or a low concentrated vinegar solution after shampooing with soap so you do not leave soap residue in the carpet

Q:i'm installng carpet myself and this sort of carpet usually requires the installation of carpet padding underneath. what would happen if i were to lay the carpet without the padding? i'm just trying to cut costs. the floor underneath is some sort of particle wood.

Carpet padding extends the life of carpet. Better quality padding is more important than carpet grade. It will last longer and look and feel much nicer! Do not glue to wood subfloor! That is just bad advice! Future cleaning would be next to impossible and leave stains from glue and rot out the particle wood.
