Q:Is a car transmission box oiled. Ive seen many gears in my life and usually they are choked with oil and lube. The car transmission spins rapidly and is used often with gears clashing against each other. Is the transmission in like a sealed box and filled with oil or something so there is little friction I mean if you think about the biting point its never the same each time and the cogs dont mesh with each other evenly each time? Thanks
Manual transmissions run in a bath of oil that is splashed about by the gears. Some manuals have oil pumps that route the oil in the transmission in a more controlled method. I think that's what you're asking.
Q:I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE with the automatic transmission. Without going into a lot of detail, it sucks. It will allow the car to roll backwards on hills. It shifts poorly at start up and torque steer is a prelim too. is there an after market program that can reprogram transmission like there are programs engines like Hyperchip?
examine THIS and take it to heart! ALL brake and snatch fluids destroy with time and that they'd desire to get replaced each and every 2-3 Years. They take in MOISTURE from the air and turn into GOO sludge and finally liquid sandpaper. via fact of this CALIPERS and grasp cylinders freeze up, not from AGE or USE! The fluid loses that is BOILING factor and particulates kind! in the journey that your BRAKE and snatch fluid is BROWN that is already undesirable! Get it FLUSHED OUT and re-crammed utilising basically actual FORD fluid. each and every FORD dealership runs specials in this provider. SLAVE and MASTERS won't fail if the fluid is clean! attempt getting used BRAKE FLUID on your palms and see what occurs. Your dermis will SHRIVEL! a similar difficulty occurs to BRAKE seals over the years. it quite is basically as substantial as changing OIL and TRANS fluids.
Q:How much would it cost to get a manual transmission swap for an 08 Honda Accord?
wow, i heard about these things nad i think there quite expensive, you rather just sell your car and get a manual one lol you gotta change the transmision, do trhe interior. add in the clutch and all. a lot of work and money.
Q:I‘ve heard numerous times, when the transmission fails, get rid of the car. But I have a close relative who has replaced their transmission numerous times and added years on every time. And it has always been a USED transmission they have gotten, never new. So, I want to get a used transmission to replace my failed one. I know I won‘t have this car for much longer than around 2 more years so I figure it‘s okay. The car was $2000, and the transmission replacement will cost $1200 (because we know the person doing it). The car is a 97 honda accord. I would love any knowledgable answers with explanations of why you say so. Thank you so much!!!!!!! :)
Clean the contacts on the switch, or buy a new one.
Q:My car is in at the dealer for 105,000 mile service. They say my ATF is dirty and I should flush it. Are they ripping me off? The net has wildly varying answers, from sure, it‘s a good idea to Never do this it will kill your transmission!
I asked my husband about this, he's a mechanic. He says that if it has transmission problems it can kill the transmission. If there are no problems with it can be really good for it. He says you should definately go for it if there are no known problems with the transmission.
Q:What does it usually mean when the automatic transmission fluid smells like burnt rubber?
Seriously. It means you must change your transmission fluid immediately or risk burning out your transmission. The fluid should also look pink in color not brown. Get it checked without delay. Old transmission fluid will destroy your transmission quickly!
Q:Right now I love my 98 acura cl it is very reliable, good looking, great stereo, peppy, and very comfy. One problem it has transmission issues with the automatic. On the internet I found out they engineered the transmission poorly. The transmission issue lasted to the last generation made. I think those cars are awesome besides the issue. I want to sell mine cause its slipping and its hopeless because if you get s new one it will do the same thing after 40,000 miles. I want to get a 2001 acura cl with a manual transmission. Are these reliable?
My 2003 CLS has a 6 speed manual transmission. At the dealer last week for service, 2 workersasked if it was for saleNo. The transission is the same as in the MDX manual so it's heavy duty for a coupe. I did have serious problems with it. While traveling in 2nd gear in back up traffic something smashed out of it. It was hauled to the dealer and replaced as it was covered by warranty. A new clutch was installed at that time. Another clutch was required about 30,000 later. Now it has 95,000 with no apparent transmission problems. The GPS has am issue but it is temporary as it normally functions properly. My advice is to get the last model made.with the 3.2 V6 engine. An Acura that is well maintained will last a long time.
Q:what exactly is an automatic transmission flushed with? i thought it was flushed with transmission fluid but i‘m hearing differently??
magnets only attract to iron, cobalt, nickle or any alloy of those
Q:I went to get my oil changed yesterday and they told me I need to get my transmission fluid flushed. They showed me a drop of the fluid and it‘s brown instead of pink but I haven‘t had this car for very long (it‘s used) and I have never had to get a flush before so I am not sure about how much it costs usually. I didn‘t get it then because I didn‘t have the extra $109 to pay for it. Is this a typical price for a transmission flush? I wasn‘t even at a dealership or major chain shop.
the old transmission flush scam is something only females and gay guys have to deal with because auto mechanics think these types of people don't know jack about car maintenance. Your car does not need a transmission flush. As a matter of fact, it is dangerous to get a transmission flush since it will probably shorten the life of your transmission. You can, however, get a transmission fluid change after 150,000 miles (if you have an automatic transmission). The fluid change is another scam because it requires the shop to drain the fluid from the bottom (1/2 the fluid) and suck the other half out of the torque converter through the filler tube. 90% of shops will do it one way or the other but not both. Therefore only half your fluid gets changed. But they charge you for a full fluid change. I would find a new mechanic if I were you. One that owns his own shop.
Q:The new elantra looks nice but I keep reading about their cars falling apart. Mostly worried about what appears to be problematic transmissions. Have owned hondas that never had issues even 13yrs later and not sure if I should switch
no do not need to you can or you can also just use the clutch
