- We have written clear (updated for 2015) sheepskin washing instructions with photos on our blog. The most important thing is to use the correct sheepskin woolskin wash not a wool wash. The difference is that woolskin wash is safe to use on the leather of the sheepskin rug and will not make it fall apart or go stiff and hard. A carding brush also make washing sheepskins a lot easier to get the knots out of the wool.

Go to carpet stores and ask about remnants in the size you need. They always have leftovers from carpeting jobs and are more than happy to sell them. Some may already be bound at the edge, others may need to be bound and you would have to pay for that. You can install a remnant by just rolling it out. You could add a pad underneath as well, but it is not necessary.

- Q:I just replaced my old area rug. The old one was great , I could steam clean it , take it outside and rinse it off and let it air dry. No problems for 4 years, it just got worn out. I replaced it with the same rug from the same store, but the carpet came loose from the backing were I had spot cleaned it. When I vacuumed it pulled out 6 foot of string. I took it back and they replaced it. This new rug, seems a little better, but the backing seems cheap. Is there a way I can re-enforce the backing so the carpet does not come loose from it when I clean it? Would applying carpet seaming adhesive to the entire rug work?
