- Q:I bought this cool wool runner rug at a consignment shop. It is possibly a blended wool with some brown cotton type thread woven in it that extends thoughout and the remains of the thread is the knotted fringes at the end.
- The design is typical of the southwestern motif. It's not old at all and it's made in Mexico. They make these kinds of narrow rugs with that kind of border. It's not made in India and it's not a dhurrie. These Mexican rugs are hand loomed and usually a cottage industry rug. Usually women make them at home. It's less than 30 years old.

- Compared to hard courts, carpet courts will cause the balls to bounce lower. This is because the carpet surface is more foregiving, i.e. softer, which absorbs the energy from the ball. I'd say it plays most closely to grass. Due to the friction of the surface, spins have a greater effect, eg. skidding slices. Soft and great for the joints though. The speed of the surface is dependent on the makeup material and thickness of the carpet, but usually pretty fast. Is this tournament indoors? Have you played indoors before? There are those factors to consider as well, such as ventilation (for breathing), ceiling height (b/c if you hit it, you lose the point), and echo (from hitting the ball). All those factors are worth considering as well. Good luck!
- Q:What is the best way to clean stains on a seagrass rug? These are from a cat throwing up hairballs. We have tried water, Oxyclean, baking soda, carpet foaming cleaner...Any remedies would be very much appreciated.Thanks!
- Sorry to tell yo uthat the stains are most likely permanent. Seagrass, by nature is a porous fiber. Hence the stains have penetrated the fibers in the rug, and have become inherent, just as a dye would. Your best chance would be to completely redye the rug. It may be cheaper however to buy another, and keep Puss N Boots in the other room.

- Bath rugs usually have a non-skid coating on the back so they don't slip when they are wet. They can be made of anything...I've had fuzzjy synthetic ones, looped cotton ones, a whole array of materials, but if they were designed for use in the bathroom, they had a non-skid backing on them. Kitchen rugs are often reversible. My favourite are the rag rugs, tightly woven colourful cotton rugs made from twisted rags, often in colour schemes (in my pair, the dominant colour is blue). They are durable, colourful, absorbent, easily washed in the machine, and release soil much better than nappy rugs. And they are dirt cheap...I have a pair in my kitchen that have been in use for more than 10 years and I paid less than $5 each for them in a place like WalMart or a dollar store. They are just now starting to fray a bit!

- If it was me, I would call the installer, or the store that you purchased the carpet from and tell them about the problem and ask them to remedy it. After all it is brand new. I wouldn't mess with it myself, they may then blame you for the problem.
- Q:Im looking at rugs online trying to decide what to choose.I know wool feels soft but there's also this nice rug made out Polypropylene. Is this material any softer or just as soft as wool? Thanks.
- Yes its a softer fiber. Softer than your standard nylon carpet. But the drawback is that the fibers don t stand up as well as nylon and defiantly won t last as long as wool. Being a rug and if its a decorative rug it won t get the wear and tear as a standard carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q:How are those carpets differ from each other?

- shampoo the rug with a steam cleaner and purchase another rug to set on top of it this will prevent a heavy traffic area from getting dirty, from time to time remove it and wash it or shampoo it replace it when fully dried.

- molded floor carpet should just lay down maybe some spray trim adhesive for the jute backing. but only a little. I prefer 3M brand at auto supply stores
