- Q: I just bought a wool area rug (2' x 3'). It doesn't look good where I wanted to put it. Could I put it in a small powder room? Also, would it look good to use a large wool area rug over burbur carpet?
- Yes, you could put it in a powder room or use it for an entryway door. I used a persian rug over my berber rug under a coffee table to add more color to the room. They put oriental rugs over carpet all the time. It looks good too.
- Q: There two different places in the house that have had candle wax spilled on the carpets - Berber carpet and Mini Shag carpet
- The best way I have found is to do the following: Remove the chunks of wax and as much as you can with your fingers. You may use ice as the others have suggested for this step. Heat your iron on a NON steam setting but pretty hot. Lay a paper bag over the wax spots and iron them. You may have to do this several times with clean paper but the iron melts the wax and the paper absorbs some of it.

- If you can take it outside onto concrete, you can wash and let it dry there. You have to flip it over to make sure the underside dries especially if the rug goes over wood in the house. Oreck has a dry carpet cleaner that you sprinkle on, agitate (they'd love to sell you the machine to do it) I use a scrub brush, let it sit and then vacuum. It does a fair job.

- You could probably sew them together with rug yarn that you can get in a craft store. Depending on what the backing of the rugs are made of, this might be difficult OR, they have iron on tape that is made just for rugs. I've never seen it in the stores but I've never really looked for it either. I did see them use it on a show on HGTV. You lay the rugs face down with the joining edges against each other on the floor, place the tape evenly along the edges you want to connect, and press with a hot iron. When the joined rugs cool, turn the piece over and comb back and forth with your fingers to hide any of the new seam that night be showing.

- try the shelving liners you get for your kitchen cabinets that are kinda tacky..(its like some type of soft plasticy-foam)depends on what kind of floor you have. just check out different types...dollar store's the best place to look. hope this helps. :)

- Q: I'm moving into a house and it is solid concrete, the walls and the floors. we want to install carpet in two of the bedrooms and we were originally going to get stick on carpet tiles, but they were unavailable. We think that traditional carpet installation would be too big of a project for us to handle ourselves and hiring someone would cost too much. So my question is, how exactly do we go about this? Can we just buy regular carpet and install it with the adhesive? Does it need padding? or is there a specific type we need to buy?Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
