- Q: My husband and I are expecting our first baby in February; we also rent a two story house. The baby's bedroom has white carpet but it has like... hot pink and purple stains, which I think is either marker or make-up from the prior tenants children. Would a Rug Doctor be able to get out marker/make-up stains?
- Have used Rug Doctor, in the past, with great success. I would recommend, however, trying a cheap home made remedy first. I would be afraid to use Windex because it contains ammonia and ammonia can permanently discolor the carpet. If you have any kind of shaving cream, spray that on the stain, wait, and blot up, see if that helps. If it doesn't, I would make sure that when I rented the Rug Doctor, I'd also purchase a bottle of their Rug Doctor spot remover. We used this, with the rented Rug Doctor machine and the results were fantastic. Good Luck.
- Q: i was told that steam cleaning a carpet that has a bad odor will actually cause that odor to remain in the carpet forever. the reason i ask is i plan on renting a house with a buddy of mine and the carpet in the house smells of urine, previous owner had like 4 dogs and 6 cats. smells bad but it is still tolerable. the renter told us if we paint and steam clean the carpets our first month is free. sounds good to me. but will steam cleaning the carpet with my bissel steam cleaner cause the odor to be quot;bakedquot; into the carpet for ever. or would it be better to buy the stuff you sprinkle on and then just vacum a couple of times?

- Q: my doctor prescribed me this benzoyl peroxide gel for my face and i accidentally got a big glob of it on my rug. I went to clean it up with these red tissues and it started to turn my rug red! The next day, I put this carpet cleaner on it (one that has to sit for 15 minutes then you vacuum it) and it turned it orange!
- Also if there are no scraps you may be able to go to a carpet store or Home Depot with a sample and get a remnant. You can also cut out a section from where it won't be noticed such as the back of a closet and then just switch the sections.

- Hi For just a few spots Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet and pad like the urine did. You may need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly. After you clean the spots, you should shampoo the carpet using this product on the front and back of rug. In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck! Carpet cleaner for 14 years
- Q: I have carpet in my kitchen (awful). I decided to change the oil in my deep fryer and just put a couple of grocery bags together and poured in in there. I mistakenly put the used oil in my regular trash bag. When the bag was almost full I pulled it out and set it on the floor to continue stuffing it. When I moved the bag I noticed that the oil had leaked out and is now all over my carpet. A huge spot. How do I get it cleaned up.
- Before you use the dawn, try this: take lots of paper towels, newspapers, etc. and put them down, then apply a hot iron, this will absorb a lot of the oil. Keep doing it until there is no tangible oil. Then take Dawn. Pour it right on, let it set and then scrub scrub scrub. If you have a wet vac, vacuum up the water so the carpet and pads don't get moldy. If you don't, try to borrow or rent one. Good luck.

- spray carpet cleaner and a stiff brush and if it doesn't come clean enough for you dye the carpets. For leather go to autozone or pepboys and get a cleaner for leather and then put on a leather protector.
- Q: I have a puppy that is a year old and she still isn't fully potty trained(shes a lot better than she used to be, but still has accidents) plus i have a toddler and normally have many other children here- leaving spills and stains. So for the past year I have used my carpet shampooer A LOT but am now concerned that it may have mold under it or in the padding. my mother keeps telling me they aren't a good thing to use and they will create mold. So I am wondering if it would be moldy and if so how I can get rid of the mold? Thanks!:)
- Carpet shampooers do thoroughly soak your carpet, but they are also designed to pull the liquid quickly back out so it does not remain in the carpet. The cleaning works the same way that the river smooths stones - friction and water. Mold requires a long breeding time, contaminants, and a warm, damp environment. One way to get mold in the carpet is to leave a wet spot for a long time. This could simply mean that the puppy managed to get away with one accident that you didn't see, and when you finally trod across that area, it was already soaked down to the padding and so, never got cleaned up. Another possibility is that your carpet shampooer MIGHT be malfunctioning, and not pulling the water back out fast enough. This would be very easy to determine, as the carpet would be very wet when you finish. If it's damp, but not soaked, then the carpet shampooer is probably not to blame for the problem. There is a possibility that you have another problem, such as a busted pipe or something that could be affecting it. If you can't determine the source, you can pull the carpet off of the tacks, and check to see if you have mold.
- Q: My couch is black leather. I have a glass top coffe table with black legs. My tv is black, and the TV stand is black w/ a very dark wood. Also some other dark wooden misc peices that match. I want to paint the walls a fire engine red to make the room pop, but I also need a rug. I've been searching every store everywhere, but NOTHING seems to match. We tried several animal prints, but it ended up look tacky. Any suggestions??
