Structure and operating principles of Portable Self-priming Single Suction Centrifugal Pump

 

Diesel engine driven self-priming pump is composed of diesel engine, coupling, pump body, impeller, rear cover, mechanicalseal, pump spindle, bearing block, imported pump, gas-liquid separator tube, water valve and drain connection. The structure of the pump is shown in the following figure.

Principle of operation: The pump body with fluid reservoir inside and the working chamber of the pump, being connected with each other through the reflowingvalve on the upper side and circulation valve beneath it, form the axial-flow outer recirculation system of the pump. When the pump stops working, it already has a volume of liquid reserve inside its fluid reservoir, when the pump runs, the liquid inside is ejected upward with the air flow under the function of impeller, then it reflows into the working cavity through the gas-liquid separator tube, at the same time, the gas is exhausted out of the pump, which makes the pump vacuumed inside so as to get self-priming realized.

 

Preparations of Portable Self-priming Single Suction Centrifugal Pump

 

  • Check the fasteners of the joint parts, such as the pump seat, the coupling and the bearing carrier, and make sure that they would not loosen. If any of them get loose, you should fasten them.

  • Check the connecting pipes and make sure that there is no gas leakage.

  • Switch on the water valve on the top of the pump, add a volume of water,which is no less than 2/3 of the pump volume. Then switch off the water valve. The next time you start the pump, you never need to do water-injection anymore.

  • Get the power line of the storage battery routed to the power source , when the diesel engine is power-on, press down the starting button of the meter panel,  give it a test run to see if it rotates clockwise (counterclockwise rotation is prohibited). 

  • Starting up: Add antifreezingsolution to the water tank of the diesel engine, and fill the fuel tank with diesel oil,then add some lubricating oil (labeled 10w-40)to the engine. Route the power line of the starter to the storage battery and pay attention to the positive and negative poles.

Q:I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus and recently had the coolant drained (not quot;flushedquot;, as the mechanic wanted to charge $125 extra for that). Realistcally you have a 10 year old car, so your water pump has used up its life sorry. Stop leak products are usually a fine powdered aluminum/epoxy mix and NO they won't fix a water pump seal. Old stop leak products were actually better but used asbestos as a leak fix, so the government banned its use. My advice, is to shop around a bit for another price, as it does sound pretty steep. Sorry about your problem. Please remember anti freeze can go quickly, so don't risk an engine overheat at a bad time, carry 2 gallons of spare coolant

Q:I have a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis vehicle. How do you know when the water pump is going. Is their any particular noise I should be hearing.
There is no noise associated with a water pump going out that I am aware of other than the engine exploding due to excessive heat. The dash guages; especially the engine temp guage, will give you a clue as to a cooling problem, whcih is what the water pump is for. The water pump prevents the engine block from overheating. When the pump fails, the engine overheats and will either shut down, or the engine will burn out. The best way to tell is to monitor the temp guage. If the engine is running hot, it either the water pump, lack of water in the cooling system, or Thermostat failure. Best to have a mechanic check it out. Cheers!

you are likely right, usually the pump will leak a bit of water by this point, i did mine in my van and can be difficult cause you must seperate the fan. do not let this problem continue cause u will be broke down. replace the thermostat, bypass hose and check clutch and all hoses that are getting weak, and if possible do a power flush of the system..

While it is all apart the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced. It will cost several hundred to have it done. Neons don't get much older the 96, I would pay more like $500 for it. Make sure the head gasket is not leaking.
