Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. Q:i was told that steam cleaning a carpet that has a bad odor will actually cause that odor to remain in the carpet forever. the reason i ask is i plan on renting a house with a buddy of mine and the carpet in the house smells of urine, previous owner had like 4 dogs and 6 cats. smells bad but it is still tolerable. the renter told us if we paint and steam clean the carpets our first month is free. sounds good to me. but will steam cleaning the carpet with my bissel steam cleaner cause the odor to be quot;bakedquot; into the carpet for ever. or would it be better to buy the stuff you sprinkle on and then just vacum a couple of times?

A steam cleaner is the best method. I have never heard of it trapping odor in forever. We just steam cleaned our carpet and it worked wonders, we have 2 dogs and 2 cats. The dogs had some accidents, so we had to clean it. Get a carpet cleaning solutions for pet odor's and make sure to use the hottest water that you can, it will help. NO soap (the residue attracts more dirt!)...Just steam with water, do NOT soak carpet, but keep it lightly misted and vacuumed up with a carpet cleaner...if the dirt does NOT all come up with the first cleaning, wait until it dries, then do it again. Dirt makes its way down into the carpet and will keep coming up as the carpet dries if you get the carpet too wet. Good luck

I believe Berber carpeting helps with keeping the dust out as well as indoor/outdoor carpeting. Your best bet is to call a carpet store and ask them. May be a little more expensive than the cheap kind. Why don't you get rid of carpet all together and do some area rugs without wool and dust holding carpets. Then you can wash them or take them out side and shake them. Best of luck to you.

Depends on how big of an area you are talking about and the carpet. I have done it with a high pile carpet by cutting a small slit and injecting glue beneath the carpet and then put weight on it for a while. If it is a low pile carpet you might have a hard time hiding your incision. Maybe if you can get a syringe type injector (meat injector) you can make a small enough hole that's not visible.
