Q:I have an area rug that my poodle urinates on when she's mad at me. Long story short she did it again while I was out and I didn't find it until it was dry and smelling up my apartment. Does anyone have tips on how to clean the rug myself without renting a shampooer and maybe how to deodorize the rug. I've tried fabreese and the baking soda stuff you leave on the carpet and vacuum up later. they didn't seem to work before so If anyone has anything else to suggest I'd be most grateful.Thanks

Baking soda is a good one which you've already used. Mix baking soda and ammonia together and hot water. Put a few heavy towels or something absorbent under where your poodle urinates and just pour the solution onto the urine places and allow it to sit on those spots a good while to soak through it. Pull the heavy towels you had under it and put them into your washing machine. Grab more dry towels and put them under the spots again. Now pour white vinegar and hot water over the same spots and allow that to soak through again. Grab those towels and wash them too. It should have cleaned the area rug as much as possible this way. A lot of work but worth saving your area rug and getting the oder out. I bought a small green spot bot steam cleaner and use it on spots and the suction for pulling out solution works great for these jobs. You might have a lot of use for one these machines around your apartment. Best of Luck to you.

Q:I need to carpet my whole house because there are extremely ugly tiles throughout the house. I cannot afford professional carpeting. I want to do it myself. My questions are: do carpet tiles look good? And approximately whats the price of carpet tiles, the amount for one regular size room?

Carpet tiles look fine. I'm in a commercial building where carpet tiles are used almost everywhere, and they look and function quite well. They also have the advantage that if damage occurs, or wear becomes too noticeable, the tiles can be pulled up and replaced. Prices vary a lot according to the design, depth of the pile, resistance to wear, etc.

Q:I want to make a rug, but I don't want to buy any of the patterns they've got at the store. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. If someone can walk me through it, that would be great!

Get yourself a piece of 'rug canvas' and buy a 'rug hook' and several different 'colors' of 'rug yarn' to 'fit' the size of canvas and hook. Start 'hooking' in any 'corner' and just go across to the next corner, then back ... and you can 'draw your own design' or just use 'different colors' randomly ... and the 'hook' should have 'instructions' on how to use it. It's best if you buy the 'already cut' yarn and fold it in half when you 'hook' but if you do that with your 'first' rug (which can be really small until you learn how to 'hook well') then you can decide whether you want to 'cut your own yarn' when you do your next rug. Q:Ok i just got new ferrets and every time they go onto my living room rug and then sniff it they start bugging out like they'll keep jumping really high sometimes almost flipping and then start rolling around and its only when they sniff the rug is when they do this and they do it every time. Is it bad for them to be going on that rug?

I sprayed and worked the solution in with a sponge, I cleaned a 5X7 area = 35sq ftSome parts of the carpet are still kind of damp when walking on them, it has been 20 hours.I have my windows open and I live in Colorado, very dry...humidity meter in my house says 26 right now. Even with my windows open for the past 20 hours the carpet still isn't completely dry.I am concerned about mold because I lived in a house once where we had mold problems and I don;t want them again! I read Mold can grow very fast...Since I used carpet cleaner and didn't just pour water on my carpets will the carpet cleaner cause mold the same way water will?Thanks!

The carpet will have to be damp for a lot longer than 20 hours for mold to grow.
