- Q:I found a small submersible water pump for pond decorations or birdbaths in my garage. It's about the size of three decks of cards stacked on top of each other. Would there be any harm/benefit of putting this into a 55 gal fw community tank?
- No it should be no problem , but run it in the water before you put in the aquarium ..To clean out the pump..
- Q:Earlier today I was driving and my car shut off at a stop sign. I got it to start again and it shut off at the next stop sign, so after a few minutes I got it to start again and immediately pulled over as there was a small amount of smoke coming from under my hood. The temp gauge didn't say it was overheating, but I think it mightve been stuck, because that had to be what happened. After sitting there for a while it started and stayed that way for a while, I let the engine run. I drove it to the gas station and put some coolant directly in the radiator and the resevoir, and almost all of it leaked right out. I started to drive it home and had to pull over about 6 times to let it cool down because it kept overheating( temp gauge showed it this time). I think its the water pump that is leaking, but I know very little about cars, and was wondering if it could be anything else? Also, the heater wasn't working in the car today at all.
- The heater wasn't working because you were losing the coolant. If the cooling system is not full, the coolant won't circulate and warm coolant won't flow through the heater core. But the water pump on the Neon is not a known problem. I'm not saying that it's not the problem but it's not common. What I suggest you do is fill up the cooling system with water and start the engine. See if you can spot the fluid leaking out. If it is indeed the water pump, the pump is driven by the timing belt so the water would be leaking out at the bottom of the engine on the passenger side. If you don't see the coolant/water dripping out under the engine bay, it could be a bad head gasket and the coolant is disappearing inside the engine ( check under the oil cap, if it looks like a milkshake film under there, it can be the sign of a bad gasket ).
- Q:First the shop put in a heater core, but it was still leaking and overheating. Next they put in a water pump. Went to get it and now it wines really loud and the engine use to purr like a kitten, couldn't even tell it was running, now the engine shakes the whole car and it died one the way home but started again. The shop said the cam positioning needs reset again and on the way back to the shop it died again. So from leaking anti-freeze to now it vibrates, dies and wines really loud ! Any ideas what they did wrong ?
- Yea, this engine has the water pump that is driven off of the timing Chain, before removing the pump you have to install a holding tool to keep the timing gears synchronized, If the pump is removed first without installing the tool, the camshaft timing will be out of sync. and that's what probably happened. NOTE: This sounds like an unqualified shop to work on vehicles, if they can't trace a coolant leak! The first thing that should have been done is a CO2 test on the cooling system to see if the vehicle has any hidden head gasket issues. (Good luck)
- Q:WHERE IS THE WATER PUMP LOCATED ON A 1995 HONDA CIVIC
- Hello, okorder
- Q:Replaced the water pump in my 89 f150 and now I have a pretty steady leak coming out. I don't know where the leak is coming from, but its running down the lower hose and dripping off it. I've replaced the lower hose and water pump, what could be causing this?
- could be anything, including loose lower radiator hose, backing plate for the waterpump(have gotten the things and the 2 bolts are loose and missing the gasket)get you a mirror and light, and start searching around it, did you do the thermostat?may have broken the housing, or pinched it.
- Q:An engineer is given the job of designing the water system for a tall building. He decides to locate the pumps at ground level and feed the entire building from there. If the top floor of the building is 236 m above ground level, what must the pressure be at pump level?
- Adding to Colin's answer, in addition to pgh, you also must add the atmospheric pressure, which is the pressure caused by the air at roughly the Earth's surface, unless whatever vessel the engineering is trying to pump the water into is a vacuum or otherwise not exposed to the air outside. atmospheric pressure: 1 atm = 1.013 x 10^5 Pa
- Q:My timing belt is worn but has not broken yet. The mechanic first told me it would be about $200-250 to replace the belt. Then he called back and said it was going to be $550 because on an Aveo you have to replace the water pump at the same time. I asked if it was possible to do just the belt and he said quot;well the water pump will probably break when we take it outquot;. Is this a sign that I should just break down and go to a dealership so that my water pump won't quot;breakupon removal?
- If you need a timing belt then to keep from having to replace the water pump later and paying for the repair twice then it is just good practice to replace the water pump at the same time. However, the 550.00 sounds a bit high to replace both.
- Q:water pump went out how do we find it where would it be located?
- If you can't see it on the engine. It may be behind the timing cover. Many engines are now set up that way. The timing belt also runs your water pump. And if you have to replace the water pump. You will also replace the timing belt. Which is a good idea any way .Since a 2001 may have many miles ,and just about ready for the belt to break. Leaving you stranded.
- Q:My mechanic doesn't get back in town until next week, and I'm struggling without my car. I don't really have any other options mechanic wise and I'm not dropping $1000 like meineke wants. How easy is it to follow the Haynes repair manuals or any other repair manuals? I have a 1996 dodge avenger and I need to replace my water pump. I know it's a time consuming task, but is it especially hard to replace it?
- Try another repair shop. I had my water pump replaced for about $300 and that included the pump and labor and a belt ... Meineke is pricey. You can do better pricewise... Ask around... neighbors... people at work... My water pump was under something else that also had to be taken ou to get to it... not a job I'd want to tackle.
- Q:Fire pump and spray pump requires a preparation, 2 sets of the same pump requires mutual investment, when the main pump failure of backup pump automatically put into use. 1: so what is the throwing device: 2: where is the device installed? It should be in the water pump control box. 3: what is the principle of mutual voting? Detailed description
- You can refer to the DCL and DCS microcomputer access control system, you can achieve the purpose of remote control. Specific installation methods can be found in local instrument engineering inquiries.
