Q: I have a 1986 Camaro and it is overheating. Thermostat was changed and fan is working. When it over heats it doesnt loose any coolant. Hoses are hot. I dont see any white smoke. No milky oil. Car runs good except sluggished going up hills. Dont see any leaks. I have notice that a water pump I replaced 2 years ago is all rusted on the outside. Could that be a bad pump? Why would a water pump rust on the outside?: replace your water pump or top overhaul

Q: I just opened up the water pump on my '86 cr250 and found it to be pretty dry. Found out why as soon as I threw some light on it. Yep, all but a TINY hole in both hose nipples (?) are completely gunked up in some nice light green/white crap.Does anybody know what this is? Okay obviously it's coolant, but why is it so dry? What causes it? My bike never quot;overheatedquot;, but there's very little travel room for the liquid. What should I do now? Clean it out and run new water through it?: Appears your cooling system has not been flushed for years thus the build-up of slime, (seems maybe even 'dry-slime'). The cooling system should be flushed clean, a new water pump and gaskets installed.

Q: Here is the deal...*Van over heats*Blows Cold quot;heatquot;*Added coolant and water (nothing happened)*Started van, felt the hoses (no h2o flowing thru)I really think my water pump is out, but I am not sure. Thanks for your help!: make sure thermostat is working properly and cooling system is bled properly to remove all air. If this doesnt work I would suspect head gaskets as Nissan engines in Villagers are known to blow head gaskets if ran hot for extended periods

Q: Hi, I need to create a portable shower and was going to go the DIY route, i wanted to use water pumps normally used in ponds, aquariums etc etc as the means of creating water pressure for the shower, the shower need not be really strong in pressure but it should be strong enough such that a person can take a bath using it.height of the shower would for sure be less then 6 feet,question , water pumps are rated at gallons per minute or some equivalent rating, how strong a pump or how much GPM should i be looking at ?: if your sink does not need a pump, you shower won't either....most water systems are pressurized

Q: took car to meachanic on a friday drove home . mecahnic put in timing belt engine coolant water pump car on sunday leaking alot of green fluid and smoke coming from hood: Clearly they did not drive it after they worked on it. They messed something up and need to fix it. call them and let them know and don't drive it out of coolant or you will fry your engine.

Q: We had a leak in our car and took it to get checked out. They said it is the water pump. Also that it would be around $650 to replace. I know nothing about cars. Would it need to be done before then? thanks guys!: on cars with water pumps that run off the timing belt it can be pricey to replace. If its a vehicle that has a water pump running off the accessory belt it shouldn't be to much unless its a BMW or foreign. state what kind of car its for it could help us answer. also do the water pump before the trip, if its really bad then getting stranded will cost you alot more.

On top of a very waterproof and airtight (besides vents) building, and running a dehumidifer inside, I would like to install a pump underneatth the foundation to suck out water from the soil surronding the building but I'm not sure what kind of pump would be best?Also how would b e the best way to set this up?: What you want is called a sump pump. Most have a system built into them that is triggered by rising water. The idea is to have a hole beneath that allows the inevitable water that will collect a place to go, then when a certain amount gets in the hole, the sump pump comes on and pumps it out to wherever you have the hose or pipes ran to. Being underground, good luck keeping the humidity level down. It won't be easy, and much depends on where your natural water table is, and what it is during rains. Someone in your area might know all that, I don't.
