- I had this problem with the carpet in my lounge. I foolishly cleaned the carpet by hand, but it meant I overwet the carpet so all the dirt that'd worked down into the underlay got wet and then squished itself up and through to the carpet (the previous house owners had 2 children who spilt many drinks!). - you can always go out and rent an extraction machine and clean your carpet. also whats underneath your carpet? if its wood flooring and its in good shape take the carpet out and get yourself an area rug or runner.
- Q: OK, my pet pooped on the carpet, didn't notice it for awhile. It dried, I picked it up, vacuumed the carpet as well as I could, sprinkled a little (not too much) baking soda into the carpet and rubbed in it. Then I put diluted vinegar (half and half with water) in a container and soaked a paper towel, wrung it out and scrubbed the carpet with it. I didn't use a whole lot of vinegar, about half a cup solution (which would be 1/4 cup of water, 1/4 of water) for an area the size of a large cutting board.I plan on leaving it overnight and in the morning scrubbing it out with a bit of water - will the vinegar harm the carpet in the meantime or am I OK? Nothing was put sopping on the carpet - the paper towel was just damp.

- Hey,i happen to have a sisal rug myself!! Firstly, it depends on the kind of sisal rug you have. There are two types: synthetic fiber, which may contain nylon or wool-blend materials; and natural fiber, made of plant products such as sea grass, paper, or coconut fibers. To safely clean synthetic-fiber sisals, follow the manufacturer's directions, which may recommend hot-water extraction or a dry-cleaning method. Manufacturers of natural-fiber sisals suggest only a dry-cleaning method. Do not steam-clean or wet-shampoo; liquids or excessive dampness may cause these rugs to shrink or pucker. For spot-cleaning a stain, lightly mist the area with the manufacturer's recommended cleaning solution (do not pour or heavily apply any cleanser directly onto the rug). Then blot the damp area with a white towel and continue blotting until the stain is removed. A fabric protectant may be applied to both types of sisal rugs during the manufacturing process or by the consumer. But regular wear and tear and cleaning can decrease its effectiveness; it may need to be reapplied.=] thx,

- Q: I have a drain under the carpet almost in the middle of the room that needs to be fixed. The room is a big square and the only way to get to the drain is to remove the carpet. I dont know how to remove carpet and how to put it back in without damaging it or making it look bad. how do i do this? i dont really wanna pay someone to come do it for me
- Usually carpet is held down with a tack strips that run along the wall. Just pry up the carpet at the walls roll the carpet up to the point you can fix the pipe...... Then after it's finished then roll the carpet back and use a knee kicker or power stretcher to stretch the carpet back into place, then tuck the carpet between the tack strip and the wall...... Also there should be a crawl space under the house, to get to the pipes.......There should some kind of access door to get down there, you just have to find it...... Anyway Good Luck..............
