Q:I have a 2002 Monte Carlo and I bought a 6 touch screen double din deck for it. I also bought a wiring harness (from OKorder because it was 15 bucks instead of 120) but it hasnt come yet. I'm very impatient, and I know that if I just splice all the wires I can install the deck without a wiring harness. Is there any downsides or risks to doing this?

Not if you know what you are doing, and double check every thing. And you know a hot wire from a ground wire.

Q:I have a 09 subaru forester nonnav standard audio package,looking to replace the stereo with an after market one. I bought the harness and I was curious if im better off sudering the wires or just splicing them together and using electrical tape? Or crimping them. Any suggestions?

Maybe do the best thing for later if you want to sell the car, so its easy to install the standard deck back? Just a tip :)

Q:I opened Pandora's box when I started t.shooting my Sidekick's elec. system! Fixed some other probs. but found sparks from driver's side main wire harness at the door. Took door apart and found the main wire harness was jammed between the glass and window track and that the rubber protector at it's entry point was off creating almost a sawing motion between 5 or 6 wires and the hole cut out in the side of the door. These wires have been stripped of insulation and are in terrible shape. Can I buy some matching wire and just splice in new sections where it was damaged or do I need to go to a junk yard and rip out a whole new assembly to put in? Also do I NEED to solder them each together or can I just twist, secure, and seperate them with electrical tape? It's a 98 suz. sidekick and the systems directly affected are the power window and door locks which are occasionally working and blowing fuses because of thiswhen it rains it pours! My understanding is that the load equalizer gets installed on the ground wire that is coming out from the LED bulb, is that correct? What color is the ground wire so I make sure that I have the correct wire? Thanks for the help!

That doesn't make any sense. You'd have to draw more current to make the old flasher work right and there's no way you can do that by hooking to a ground wire. It would have to go between the hot wires to the lights and ground. Just get the right flasher for the LEDs.

Q:I am replacing the factory stereo with a new pioneer head. The problem I am having is which wiring harness I need for the stereo to work. The guys at the store told me I needed the GMRC-04 in order for it to work. The problem is its $100 itself. I found a scosche wiring harness that fits my Bonneville as well for much cheaper. I was wonder, will the cheap on work with all of the steering wheel controls? And also will it work with the delayed shut off after the key is taken out (and doors remain closed)? Will it work just as well as the expensive one? Or will it not function properly?

you just have to make sure that the harness is similar to the gmrc-04if it comes with the module box that the expensive harness does then you should be finebut as for the steering wheel controls, if you replace the radio with anything youre gonna lose em. BUT, you are able to retain them but you gotta drop 100 bucks on a steering wheel interface control module, you'll have to wire it plus program it to work, sort of a hassle, but can be done. plus every pioneer comes with a remote so you really wouldnt have to worry about your steering wheel controls, just use the remote

You will need a receiver harness and a amp installation kit. What type of amp kit depends on how many channels and how much power you plan to install.

Q:i have a pontiac sunfire 2000 and the wiring harness is like 110$ but for a 99 it s 10.99 why does it make such a big difference? i have the simple version no power locks or windows

because their completly different the 110$ one retains all of the chimes and warning signals, the 10$ one does not it has nothing to do with the year of the car, you can buy the 00 stereo harness for 10 bucks as well. just go to a guy audio shop or search the internet you dont need the harness that retains the vehicles chimes. only difference without it is if your key is in the ignition and your door is open it doesnt go ding ding ding foreverthats all really find the 10$ one for your car, its out there. i have a 02 gand am, same thing with mine. mine was 15 bucks for just the straight harness. not warning signal one

Q:I got this little beauty for a wedding present, the only problem is it doesn't start and we believe it just needs re-wired. So I'm looking online to find some harnesses and am having issues finding 1976. My question is what year span is interchangeable with the '76 cb750? I've already been told it isn't worth it but I like the bike so as long as it's not super expensive I'm gonna do it. Thanks for the help!
