- Q:I am just looking for the pros and cons of installing a air intake on a 2002 impala
- PRO: It looks nice. CON: It does absolutely nothing for performance or gas mileage, and it cost money. IF your car had a carb. then it MIGHT make a difference. But with fuel injected and computer controlled engines, changing the air intake does nothing, but look pretty.
- Q:I drive a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5 speed manual transmission 4.7l V8. I average around 14-16 mpgs on every tank. I have a tonneau cover and a magnaflow catback exhaust system. I want to get the best mpgs possible, I heard that an intake might actually reduce my mpgs because the engine will inject more fuel to even out the mixture. What‘s the deal? And what if I do a ram air? I want to be able to hit puddles still cause it‘s fun. I want to try out a throttle body spacer, but I have a slight suspicion that it‘s bologna. Anyone know what‘s up?
- I had cold air on a 07 Ram, 4.7L. It helped a little but the whistle was annoying. Throttle body spacer should help a little too but barely noticeable.
- Q:Ok me again. with same issue lol.once again i kno intercooler wont do anything without turbocharger or super turbocharger but i still like to have one on my ford focus stock engine. now regarding installation ppl told me 1 side goes to air filter and other side to engine.Could one please be more specific about it.i still dont get the picture.where exactly in engine or air filteror about this installing intercooler with air intake will that work again not for hp or cold air im doing all this for looks
- An intercooler is designed to cool the hot air as it leaves the turbo before it passes into the engine. Its a radiator but for the air.I have no idea what you would have to do to get it to work in the capacity of a cai.
- Q:i just bought a honda civic 1997 and everything was nice and at a reasonable price so i purchased it. he told me before hand it had everything but an air intake. so i said ok since those are minor and pretty cheap to buy. and when i drive my car it has a nice whistle air sucking sound like a turbo and it‘s pretty cool. so do i even need an air intake. what can happen if i dont put one in. what does it do anyway?
- Copper becomes brittle when bent or stretched. You can anneal it easily with a propane torch. Heat it till it gets dull red and let it air cool. Then the next bend will not cause cracks. To make curves without collapsing the tubing you can buy a tubing bender at any good plumbing supply house or most good hardware stores. It is just a solid metal tool with a radius for bending electrical conduit, but it will work fine with copper. 1/8 copper is rather small for it though and you may wish to make tighter bends. In this case you need a mandrel, which is just a cylinder of the right diameter around which you bend the tubing. You can use a food can, a metal dowel or anything cylindrical. practise with a longer length of tubing until you get the knack. Be sure to anneal with the torch before bending.
- Q:Im having trouble finding one. Anyone know where i could get one? All i can find is parts for 05-06 and for SS
- If you bought it from a dealer, you can probably get them to repair it for free. If you bought it from a private seller, you might try asking them nicely to fix it. They're not obligated to do so, but if I sold someone a car that soon thereafter developed a problem, I'd try to help in any way I could. If they asked nicely. The rest of the suggestions are valid.
- Q:I've bought a no name brand cold air intake for my 2008 Mazda3. After installing it, I turn my engine on and it kinda chokes out and then cuts off. When I got the intake, it did not specify that it was for the 08 model, however, after research I found out that the intake systems on the 08s are the same as previous years. I've also seen other air intakes for the Mazda3 that are compatible with every year including the 08.Any suggestions?Thank you
- HA cold air intake is a myth, you can increase air flow thru after market air filter which may or maynot void warranty depending on who you ask. probably you don't have a tight fit somewhere behind your map/mas sensor and are sucking unmetered air. make sure all connections in the intake system are tight, flush and even. even a tiny air leak totally screws your fuel/air mix which will keep your car from performing.
- Q:so do cold air intakes really do what they say? the basic claims are small horse power gain 1-5 and better gas mileage and better throttle response i hear and read people say they do work they don‘t so much i just really wanna know what the real deal is before i buy one can anyone help me out?
- The one really true thing about *aftermarket cold air intake systems is the price you pay for them. Why would you spend hard earned money for something your car comes from the factory with? Follow the outside air intake tube that fastens to the plastic air filter box. It's neatly tucked up under the left front fender inside the plastic fender well. If you want a free flowing high performance air cleaner KN makes one that will fit inside your present plastic air cleaner housing.
- Q:should I get a cold air intake from Andys auto sport for my 1998 jetta 2.0l automatic transmission? Would it give me any more power during acceleration and give me a pleasant sound under the hood or should I get a short air intake??
- if you are very very use to the car and know it inside out, then that extra few ponies you will notice, and fewthough dont expect to notice anything if you are getting to know it. plus you will get a sporty humming sound from the intake it self.
- Q:Which Cold Air Intake would be better for a 2002 BMW 325i 2.5L Which brand makes a better product witch brand is more compatible with BMW Im having trouble deciding between the two.
- I don't think they are worth the extra. I prefer a medium quality knife. The main thing I think is to learn how to keep them sharp. Even a cheap knife properly sharpened will last you decades.
- Q:My 2 air returns/intakes are close to my living room. When the A/C comes on, I have to blast my surround sound to hear over the air noise. I want to close them off and cut new intakes in the adjacent laundry room, hopefully to lessen the air noise. Is this a good idea? Why and/or why not?
- yes that will work however you will need to replace the laundry room door with a loover door because the return will be to great for 1 1/2 gap under the door
