- my flooring is hollow underneath in some areas, how can I have this taken care of?
- If your positive that it hollow between the wood and the sub floor you can either go from below carefully drill holes in the sub floor but not through the engineered wood. Fill with construction adhesive and plug the hole up . Have something already to seal it from flowing back out of the hole. The other way , if you absoluetly cannot get to it from below is use a hole saw and save the plug and do it from above. This is a last resort way to do it since you will see the plug that you use from the hole saw. If you suspect its a small hollow spot there are needles you can inject some hardening agents. Timberland Engineered Natural Maple click-lock wood flooring at 3/8 thickness that's ready to be installed soon as FLOATING with no glues but with foam underlayment above plywood sub-floor. I am in the process of sorting different lengths of wood planks out and I was wondering what are signs of a wood plank that's NOT usable and needs to be thrown away? Defects at the tongue or groove? Large scar-type scratches underneath the plank or on the surface? Any other tips about cabin/tavern grade? This will be installed as DIY and it is my first time.
- Cabin grade is usually rated so because it has more knots and heavy grianing..There usually ( usually) isn t any thing wrong with the tongue or groove... Just the surface look. If you like the knots and graining like this then you ll like the wood. ' Watch for surface pits and nicks on the edges you can t live with. Other than this its just a more rustic look.
