They look good initially but over time they diminish the appearance. There is help for this type of problem. Basic coatings makes a 4 step process called the Tykote process. You may not need all 4 steps. Most likely I.F.T. and Squeaky to remove the buildup. Follow the instructions on the bottles to the letter and your floors will be brought back to life. If they are still somewhat dull, then you can move onto steps 3 and 4. If you are a DIYer you may have a bit of a learning curve. You can contact the company to find out where a distributor near you is located. Good thing about all of this, is that it is a sandless process. Good luck.

Q:I am installing laminate floors for the first time and I had a question. We ripped out the carpet and their was wood along the trim with nails sticking up whice I assume was used to hold the carpet in place. I am pretty sure that I have to remove that before installing laminate, but I just wanted to make sure. Thank you: You absolutely need to remove the carpet strips -- and floor moulding as well. You can replace the moulding once your laminate is complete. Best of luck !

In some places the gap could be as much as 1/8&quot;. I am trying to use the adhesive glue to fill this gap. Will this work? Can I use the glue to make my floor more even to put the tiles on. Thank you.: You need to float the floor to make it flat. Do NOT use extra adhesive. It will never dry and will come up between the tiles for years. Use any good brand of float, Henry has one. Sand after it drys for a completely smooth floor. A pro installer will spend MORE time with the prep than the installing.

Q:Looking for a green safe way to lay carpet onto of the basement floor with pading. Existing Carpet was glued down. I have a new born baby and the basement didn't get finished before she was born. I feel it is unsafe now to lay the carpet now. but if they don't us glue is their a way to staple into concret floor.: What about the tacking strips. Or any suggestions for a glitter/sparkly floor?: these floors are covered with an enameled paint product made by Rustoleum. the kits to do this can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes. they are designed for garage floors and must be used on concrete floors. the cost is about 100.00. the concrete must be prepped first for consistent coverage. a pro should be consulted. good luck.
