Q:I just got my wood floors refinished about a year ago. But over time I noticed the my floors are dull and blotchy. Recently I have used "Bruce" hardwood floor cleaner and "Rejuvenate" which both claim to shine and not leave a residue. I have tried washing the floors with water but still can't get rid of it. Why are my floors not shiny anymore?

Ok. Here is what has happened. The products that you have used to clean the floor, namely rejuvenate, have left a residue on the floor. Same thing happens with Orange Glow or Johnsons Wax. They look good initially but over time they diminish the appearance. There is help for this type of problem. Basic coatings makes a 4 step process called the Tykote process. You may not need all 4 steps. Most likely I.F.T. and Squeaky to remove the buildup. Follow the instructions on the bottles to the letter and your floors will be brought back to life. If they are still somewhat dull, then you can move onto steps 3 and 4. If you are a DIYer you may have a bit of a learning curve. You can contact the company to find out where a distributor near you is located. Good thing about all of this, is that it is a sandless process. Good luck.
