- well theres not really a big reason for it its just that most of the time its the living room and bedrooms that have carpet which makes the floor warm, when you are just walking in your house barefoot you dont want to walk on a cold hardwood floor the whole time, some like carpet because it can be considered a luxory ( i have no idea why it is i guess because its expensive ) others have it just because of the color! well thats the only reasons i have known. if you are buying the apartment you can always take the carpet out of the house, thats what we had to do in our house because of my 2 littlest brothers they would always spill drinks etc. on the floor so we just pulled up the carpet, and there you have it. =)

- The rugs will reduce reverberation and echo within your property and may reduce some footfall noise transferring to the apartment below (in the areas where you have the rugs) but I'm afraid it will do very little to improve the sound insulation performance of the floor itself. Sound insulation performance has more to do with weight/mass than thickness! The heavier that you can make the floor the better. There are proprietary underlay systems on the market that you could install onto the floor but their suitability depends on what the existing construction is.
- Q: my cat claws and tears a section of my carpet in my apartment. I would like answers from someone who really HAS the experience on cutting out the piece, replacing, sowing, etc. Can anyone help?
- using a sharp carpet knife or razor knife you can cut out the old smelly carpet, but make sure that the new peice is cut exactly the same. You need to make sure that the carpet runs the exact same way or you will notice it. To see the difference take a peice of carpet and lay it next to your other carpet and see if it is noticeable. if so you have it running the opposite way. turn it and see if it runs the same way. then you need some carpet tape that you need use carpet iron with to seem the carpets together. If your not experienced in carpet laying I would suggest you get a carpet professional to lay the new peice in so that you won't be able to tell. or for a quick fix, you can buy carpet neutralizer for the urine smell but you would have to peel the carpet up and the padding and treat the sub floor with it and the padding and the carpet. It will neurtalize the urine and stop the smell.
- Q: I have a carpet that I am having removed in order to install hardwood floors. The carpet itself is only about a year old and still in very good condition. (If we didn't have pets we would probably keep it.) We have another house we would like to put the carpet in, but would only like to do so in the form of an area rug. Is this kind of transplant possible? Has anyone ever done this? What are some other options?Thanks!
- I've done this twice. I took a wall to wall carpet and put in a smaller room wall to wall again. I just had to pay for the labor. The second rug I had bound on all four sides and used it as an area rug. They charge by the foot to bind it and I don't remember what it cost, but I was glad I did it.
- Q: have new carpeting. when I replaced the accent rug on top and placed dinette set on it, the accent rug curls up
- Your accent rug is new and it generally rolls back as it was rolled when stored before installation. Try curling it the opposite way and leave in that condition for some time..When you open it again hopefully your accent rug lies straight.. Fix it and you're good to go! Cheers!
- Q: Does anyone have a good recommendation for carpeting with someone who has a lot of pets? I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and want to get carpet in my home but not sure if it's best to get berber or shag or plush..... sigh, so many carpet choices! I currently have hardwood flooring but I'd prefer carpeting. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you.
- I would think you would want something with a low pile. Maybe a industrial grade carpet, made for offices. They are treated for heavy stains and will clean easier. A low pile will help to keep the pet hair easy to vac. ( plus it will help keep the flea and ticks not get a good hold into your carpet) another suggestion would be an area rug that could removed and cleaned .
- Q: Ha-ha, all jokes aside, this is a serious rug question. What do you call the type of rug that instead of being made out of yarn, is made out of jagged-cut t-shirt material hooked through rug backing? I want one but don't know how to search for it.

- Its a cooler rug - almost resembling a waffle - its designed to cool down a horse whilst keeping them a little bit warm so as they dont get a chill. I personally prefer fleece coolers myself - no particular reason, just personal choice. xx
