Q: removed my water pump to replace it. i have the fan and clutch assembly still attached...i have no idea how to remove these...the fan clutch has bolts that hold the fan to it...and i did remove those but im just not sure how to separate this assembly...my water pump pulley has 4 holes...and no bolts so i presume it's pressed on...and there looks to be a very large nut between the pulley and the fan/clutch assembly...any help would be appreciated on this...i'd much rather go to the parts store w/ the old pump instead of guessing.....thnx in advance...: The fan has a large nut that needs to unscrew off of the water pump. It is easiest to do that when pump is still on engine. It should be standard righthand thread.

Q: How much does it cost to have either the thermostat or water pump fixed on a car?: Parts are inexpensive depending on make and model, Labor is what gets you. I'd say your looking at about $150.00 to $200.00 for water pump. Less than that for thermostat.

Q: I just put a new water pump in my jeep and after I put it in I ran it and it seemed to have a small leak while it was running it seems like it was coming from the crank which is under the water pump so it might be a leak coming from the bottom of the pump. When I turn the car off it is no longer a leak its more like pouring water out. What do you think it can be? I put a gasket and the blue silicone gasket sealant all around it and on it before I put it in so I have no idea. Thank you for the help.: The blue silicone has caused a hole in the water pump. Get it fixed now or the blue silicone will leak onto your engine causing more damage.

Q: Fully automatic self-priming pump: It's difficult to answer your question only from the name you give! There are many automatic self suction pumps on the market. Generally, the pump outlet is equipped with a pressure switch. It starts automatically when the pressure is low, and stops after a certain pressure.If the pump outlet is the pool (water tank), then it is not a simple "automatic self-priming pump".It is an automatic water supply system. The whole system includes water pump, water tank, liquid level meter, electromagnetic starter (contactor), switch and so on

Q: i have a water leak near the water pump in my 1990 cadillac deville i replaced the water pump but it was remanufactured and a pipe on the back of the water pump can it be a heater core or should i buy a brand new one p.s. water leaks after it passes the radiator: it would,nt be the heater core because it,s a good ways from the water pump. it might be that the water pump gasket slipped when you were putting it on or the by-pass hose is bad or loose. check all the hoses like both radiator hoses and where the heater hoses hook up to the block.

Q: How do you remove the water pump from bmw m42 engine?: Remove fan from pulley (usually using a big special open end wrench) turning clockwise with you in front of the car/engine. Loosen bolts holding pulley to water pump (but do not remove bolts and pulley yet). Adjust fan belt tensioner to remove alternator belt (there is a plastic cover in the middle of the tensioner pulley under which is a bolt usually torx 50 with which you can adjust the pulley pulling clockwise/to the right). Proceed to remove bolts and pulley from water pump. Remove bolts from water pump. Put 2 screws into the empty/previously unused holes in the sides of the water pump to pull it out. Remove and replace water pump. Refill with coolant. Bleed cooling system to remove air from the system.

Q: We had a leak in our car and took it to get checked out. They said it is the water pump. Also that it would be around $650 to replace. I know nothing about cars. Would it need to be done before then? thanks guys!: on cars with water pumps that run off the timing belt it can be pricey to replace. If its a vehicle that has a water pump running off the accessory belt it shouldn't be to much unless its a BMW or foreign. state what kind of car its for it could help us answer. also do the water pump before the trip, if its really bad then getting stranded will cost you alot more.

Q: As a fact; I must remove the timing belt in order to remove both camshaft sprockets,then the metal timing belt cover which cover partially the water pump.My main question: Do I have to lift the engine and remove the two water pump studs- Which normally holding the right engine mounting.And where I can rent ,or buy a camshaft locking tool with low price: Yes, I have done at least 100 of these water pumps. You are correct, remove the timing belt, cam gears and rear cover is the easiest route. I have done them without removing the rear metal shield all the way, and only removing the front cam gear as well. You can remove the front cam gear, and all 6 bolts to the rear shield and shift the cover enough to get the pump out from behind the cover. You shouldn't need to remove the water pump studs, but if you do get a set of stud removers. I bought a set from snap on for around $50 or so years ago. Sears also sells a set. You don't need a cam locking tool. You can make one out of a bar with two bolts through it to stop cam from rotating while you loosen the 17mm nut on the cam gear. I usually just use an impact gun on the bolt, and no tool is needed to hold it. Remember, the 1MZ-FE engine is an interference engine, and the timing belt must be aligned perfectly or the pistons WILL hit valves and engine will self destruct. If you are near ILlinois I can help with repairs if needed.
