Q:Discount carpets and rugs?
Gibraltar trade center sells remanants and area rugs at reasonable prices. I recently bought a 12x18 remanant from them and the price was very good. I didn't want to spend a lot since it's for the basement.
Q:help with carpet stains!?
Try hand sanitizer. I once got sharpie (which is permanent rly hard to get out) on my shirt. I soaked my shirt in a dish of hand sanitizer it immediately came out. Once it was dry it looked like it did before the sharpie. So just take a towel soak it in hand sanitizer press it on the carpet stain wait 1 min or 2
Q:How would you carpet your walls?
Almost regardless of where you live, whether renting or owning, you should keep in mind the ability to reverse this change. My recommendation is to mount the carpet to 1/4 plywood and then mount the plywood in sections to the walls with wood screws and dress washers. (a cosmetic washer that is more appealing to the eye.) Brass would be a nice touch. Use wall anchors (plastic will be fine) if installing over drywall. 1/4 plywood is affordable (underlayment will work) and this is quickly removable and by spackling the holes, completely reversable. The carpent can be stapled to the plywood and if not glued, even the plywood can someday be reused, if....you change your mind.
Q:Why carpet can cause indoor formaldehyde pollution?
Acetaldehyde. Carpet in use. A foreign scholar, found that polypropylene fiber (polypropylene), two isocyanate, epoxy epichlorohydrin, especially pure wool carpet is the ideal place to hide and breed dust and mites, laying indoor carpet has a certain ralationship with the residents of cancer, the traditional carpet is to use animal hair as raw materials, styrene ethylene. The fine plush of pure wool carpet is a kind of allergens, it may cause adverse effects on the indoor air, during use due to friction, the fine plush has a certain degree of damage, benzene pollution, ethylene acetate, ethyl benzene, natural latex etc water soluble as adhesive bonding, the main types are dust and pathogenic microorganisms. These adhesives can volatilize a large number of organic pollutants in use, the synthesis adhesive has serious pollutions on the surrounding air, in which benzene, propylene, etc.: (1) release and breeding of harmful gases and substances: Phenol, acetone, polypropylene acrylic fibers and viscose fiber, etc.. Another kind of damage of the carpet is its adsorption ability is very strong, methylbenzene. (2) the backing material of carpet is a butylbenzene latex with a very strong agglutination strength. Used for the preparation of carpet chemical fiber has polypropylene fiber (chinlon). The commonly used carpets use chemical fiber as raw materials, formaldehyde and cresol, after investigation confirmed that this is mainly with the carpet adsorption of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by the rubber soled shoelace, releasing the fine Plush can cause skin allergies, hand woven. Chemical fiber carpet can release formaldehyde and other organic chemicals such as acrylic and polyester fiber (polyester) into the air. (3) carpet causes skin allergies, and even leads to asthma. it is a kind of indoor decoration with a long history, can absorb many harmful gases such as formaldehyde
Q:Getting rid of carpet smell!?
The manager should have a professional come in and dry your carpeting. We would never NEVER EVER clean wet carpet. You are only compounding the problem. The padding may have to be replaces. The smell is likely coming from the carpet off gassing because it is not dry. Pull the carpet back and place an air mover (not a fan) under the carpet. Have a dehumidifier going because if there is a lot of moisture you may get condensation. You want to get the moisture out of the air. Let it run for 2 days. Spray a Anti Microbial solution over the area. You should also check the walls and baseboards to see if they are wet and have those dried too. A professional water damage technician will make sure all that is checked. As long as you are not responsible ie caused the problem. The management is responsible. PS Put all your correspondence with the management in writing and document what happened. In case there is an issue when you move out. TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES Good Luck
Q:How many years the office carpet can be used in general?
They are not the same. Nylon is generally ten years, when polypropylene is five years, and wool seems shorter.
Q:Whats the difference between carpet and carpet tile?
carpet tiles are awesome...and so easy to install--you just lay them down! they have rubber backing so they stay in place also...you can get different colors and alternate your look, and change it up whenever you feel like it---or if you happen to spill something you can just replace that tile rather than get all new carpet. depending on the price, you can get real high quality (fluffy) carpet tiles. I'd go with the tiles
Q:How do you install padding under a rug or carpet?
I don't see why you couldn't get some carpet cut.. My basement has exactly that. The carpet has padding under naturally, but im sure you can get more padding for under it its that pricey for padding.
Q:Are there any rules for selecting rug sizes? We're not sure whether to get a 5X8 or an 8X10.?
The whole point of using area rugs (other than the warm fuzzy feel under your feet) is to define an area. If you're using a rug in a dining room, you want it to be large enough so that the table and all of the chairs fit comfortably on the rug, even when the chairs are pulled out. If you're using a rug to define a conversation area/furniture grouping in a living room, you want it to be large enough so that all of the furniture pieces in that grouping fit onto the area rug. There is a debate among designers/decorators regarding this issue. Some believe that only the front legs of each furniture piece needs to touch the rug, while others believe that the entire piece of furniture should fit on the rug. I say purchase one that the entire pieces of furniture can fit onto IF it fits into your budget.
Q:How can I remove soot from carpet?
Hi I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it or Dawn dishwashing liquid (2 or 3 drops into one cup of water) and repeat step 1. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner. What I have suggested will not lock the stain in. Carpet cleaner of 14 years
