- I don't know much, but I would install some sort of padding under the carpet - the floor people should do it with the installation of the carpet (if you purchase it from them). The company you purchase the carpet from should also know this. Good luck! PS - get a thickness of padding that goes with your carpet - plush carpet may need less padding. One thing things to consider - Is there enough height under my door to fit carpet and padding? (Or will I have to cut the door down?) Also, if you don't have a thin and hard carpet, then you will have to get a plastic-floor thing to roll your chair on (if you have a rolling char).

- If it is being sold to cut up, I wonder if it would make any difference to clean first. And, if it might have some value, do some research first, to make sure that your cleaning method doesn't actually lower that value.
- Q: I had a puppy, that urinated on my carpet, I would clean the spots, and of course discipline the dog.... BUT it made my home smell like urine.... so I had some carpet cleaning people come out and clean my carpets now that the puppy is fully house trained and now my house smells like wet dog, urine, and this sour, mildew wet smell. - Use hairspray but the kind in an aresol can and dab don't rub, keep using fresh paper towel, I've gotten pen and grease out of coats, carpet etc with it but the trick it to dab and keep using fresh paper towel. Also when you get to just a bit left scrub it with TSP Tri Sodium Phosphate worked for me with chinese red candle spill on my beige carpet, it was aa wool carpet worked really well, with candle paper towel and an iron, ink just paper towel and aresol hairspray. Good luck.

- If his room is all Simpsons maybe just look for a rug that has the colors of one of the characters or something that way it won't be over kill on all the Simpsons stuff you know, like if you have walls with Simpsons and furniture or decor with Simpsons adding a rug with Simpsons may be a bit much where as if you just put a cool Marge's hair color blue rug or A simpson skin toned yellow rug it might pull it all together better, just a thought :)
