Q:My ex landlord is charging me pro-rated costs to replace the entire carpet. While I don't think the carpet needs to be replaced, they said they couldn't get all the carpet installed before the new tenant moved in that they will replace the carpet upon the exit of the new tenant, whenever that may be. Can the legally do that? They've sent me receipts for the carpet cleaning have deducted the pro-rated amount to replace all the carpet. FYI I moved out the end of June, they sent me estimates the end of July now in January they've just sent me the invoices, I asked, for the work they completed, the new tenant moved in-in August.
Usually they have time frame within which they have to bill you.
Q:We bought a new white linoleum floor to which we added a couple of bathroom rugs. When I went to pick up the rugs to throw them in the wash, I noticed the floor had yellowed underneath the rug. The stains were same shape of the rugs that covered it. The floor was meant to look like white marble now it looks like yucky yellow snow. How I can get these stains off? Will putting the rugs back down cause it to yellow once again? Shouldn't there be a warning lable on these rugs!

Q:Is it true that you are better off buying a thinner carpet (not as dense or tall) with an 8 lb. carpet padding (the best) as opposed to a thicker carpet (dense and tall) with a cheaper 6 lb. padding? The price difference in the padding is dramatic...3.50/sq. yd. vs. 6.50/sq. yd.!
The newer carpet fiber systems it doesn t matter tall or short. The newer , heat set yarns always retain their set when cleaned properly. Depending on how thin your carpet is depends in the poundage. Thinner, like a commercial carpet or berber, calls for an 8# pad or higher. If you mean just a thinner, shorter fiber residential carpet, both pads carry all the manufacturers warranties.( 5 1/2# is standard carpet minimum to hold warranties) Its a matter of your preference and what you can afford. You ll feel very little difference from a 6 to an 8# pad. And any one selling carpet OR pad by the s/y is breaking federal law. ALL flooring MUST be sold by the s/f. They can show it by the s/y and s/f but it must be sold by the s/f. So I d be wary of what else some one is saying if they can t comply with the law. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:My landlord is finally replacing the carpet in my apt. But he's not going to pay to have it installed. It's not my responsibility to pay it's his responsibility to pay for the carpet and installation right.
because you've not moved in, i trust that you landlord is to blame for replacing the carpets. you're sparkling that this isn't proper. Why do not you your landlord meet with a professional cleansing crew, to ascertain in the journey that they have got any tricks that your spouse would not have get admission to to. - also, perchance that's the matting lower than the carpet it fairly is the curprit now. if so, you are able to pull up the carpet, replace the matting, and lay the prevailing carpet down. yet another determination is to break the lease and take her to small claims courtroom for the deposit and lease you've paid. i imagine you would have about a ninety 8% possibility of prevailing.
Q:I recently took out the carpet in my apartment. Between the carpet and the mat under that, there were thin, wispy strands off fiber-like material and quite a lot of it. Is this asbestos? Or is it normally used under carpets. Also, if it is asbestos, is my health in danger?
I have never heard of asbestos being used in this manner and I deal with it professionally. You can stop worrying.
Q:i have this cheetah print bed cover and i want to turn it onto a floor rug is there any way i can do this if so pleasee help :) k thanks lt;3
Yes. If you are going to use it the full size that it is now, all you have to do is go to the fabric store and purchase rubber rug backing so it won't slip on the floor when stepped on. The rubber gripping is best sewn on either by machine or hand and try to stitch it throughout the back, not just along the edges or at the corners so that it won't rip when you launder it. Another way to use it is a rug is to purchase two sided carpet tape. The tape sticks to the floor and then you press the rug onto it holding it in place.
Q:Hello,I am an Israeli Jew, and I recently went on vacation to a Muslim country and purchased a handwoven prayer rug. In US dollars or in Euros, what is a typical price for a prayer rug? Just want to see if I over-spent. Thanks.
hard question to answer... I am a muslim residing in SaudiArabia.. prayer rugs vary in price from about 10riyals up to hundreds of riyals.. depends on the quality.. you can find vary cheap ones that get the job done that you can find at any 5 and 10 store... or if you go to the oriental market places you can find really nice iranian/persian hand made ones in hundreds of riyals... so.. average price.. a decent one I would pay about 100dollars for a good quality not so expensive one...
Q:Can you lay new carpet over old carpet. Because of my age and health it is not possible for me to rip out the old; but I would like to lay down some new to freshen up my computer room.

Q:My cat got sick a year ago and repeatedly urinated in a corner of a room. The cat is now gone, but I still can smell it sometimes, especially when it's humid. I've shampooed the area probably 15 times and used various enzyme shampoos, treatments. I don't have the money to replace the carpet. I am assuming that the urine is on the pad and flooring. How do I go about cleaning the flooring underneath and replacing the pad, etc. Should I clean the underside of the carpet or just lay in a spare piece?
Your so right the pee is in the pad and wood under the rug and if you can put some white vinegar and arm +hammer baking soda in a mix it will help and get the first and second layer done then do the same on the pad and carpet' sopping wet and let i stay 3 hours then get some news paper and dry it out and get the rotten carpet and padding out if it still smells real bad. Never just cover and forget it as it only will come out 10 times more stronger.
Q:I have dark brown (medium chocolate, I'd call it) warm modern style leather sofa and love seat in a white room with 10 foot ceilings (I can't paint). The floors are oak, as is one book case (modern lines, arts and crafts style detail). The feet of the sofa are a dark walnut color. The accent pieces in the room will be yellow hues (artwork, vase, throw pillows). What sort of area rug should I get? Colors, patterns? Links to examples would be awesome. I'm getting more furniture, but I think the rug could really warm up the room. I'm concerned about getting something that looks too country or contemporary against the modern lines of the furniture.
you could get a rug with warm colors like the chocolate and yellows and reds with squares on it. That would look good. I would just look for something in the same colors that you already have.
