Q: So I have a 2006 beetle bug and I noticed that my bearing sounds loose. I don't know however, if I have to replace just the bearing or since it's German, I need to replace the whole hub like an Audi. Does anyone know? Thanks! It's also the front left wheel
The answer is - yes - they have bearings - whether they are replaceable without the hub assy is the question. Lots of things on a front wheel can sound loose. brake pads or shims - suspension joints. if you jack the car up or put it on a lift try rocking the wheel from the top and bottom. If a wheel bearing is loose it will move. No movement the bearing should be ok. Rotate it - listen for noise - no noise probably ok. You should probably have a competent brake/suspension technician have a look at it.
Q: The question is For e.g. S47 °W ^How do I convert that to a true bearing??
Bearings are usually measured clockwise from true north, so S is 180°, and W is clockwise from there, so we would add 47° to 180° to get S47°W has a true bearing of 227°.
Q: Hi, the question is; A fish swims 2km from point A to point B at a bearing of 30 degrees (measured anticlockwise from due east). It then travels due east to point C for 1km.a) Determine the distance the fish is from its starting point.b) Write vector AB and BC using vector units i and jI drew a diagram, and am completely stumped! thank you in advance! guidance in the right direction is also fine! I just have no idea where to start!
using compass bearings: (2,60°) + (1,90°) = (2.9093, 69.8961°) - - - - - - (2,60°) = (1.7321, 1) - - - - - - (1,90°) = (1, 0) - - - - - - (1.7321, 1) + (1, 0) = (2.7321, 1) - - - - - - so: a) 2.9093 km b) (1.7321, 1) and (1, 0)
Q: I'm stuck right now can anybody figure this out ?A ship is 31 miles west and 9 miles south of a harbor. What bearing should the captain set to sail directly to harbor ?The answer is N 73.8° E. I just dont know how to get there ...Any help is greatly appreciated !!
Hurrah, that's what I was looking for! Thanks to author of this question.
Q: So i have a longboard and the bearing it came with died on me. Changing my bearings for the first time, i had no idea what i was doing until i look to youtube. I did as they said but something fell out. It was my speed ring. So i changed themas i was told and i put the ring back on before the bolt. I dont know what i did but now it spins very fast but slows down IMMENSLY within 10 seconds of a spin test and stops abruptly. What happened? (note: i skated in the rain... Stupid me)
Spin tests are useless, they give no indication of the bearing's performance under load. Bearings take a while to break in, especially Bones. Might take a few good days of riding. There should be a speed ring on either side of the wheel. Some Trucks do have a built in protrusion that does the same as a speed rind, so only the outer one is needed. Make sure you didn't tighten the axle nuts too much. There should be a little play in the wheels. Also, make sure your bearings are seated properly. Ditch the spacers as they often cause problems. If you skated in the rain with the new bearings, clean and re-lube them. . They might be salvageable, otherwise plan on buying another set of bearings.
Q: Thru the oil pan on a vortec 350??? In a half ton P/U.
Ask yourself WHY this need to be done when your engine should last for 300,000 miles WITHOUT needing ANY internal parts. The answer of course is that you have benn using INFERIOR WAX based engine oils. Even now, you PROBABLY do NOT need new bearings, but you DO need an engine flush and switch over to any of the good synthetic oils with a 0 series rating. Your engine life will extend and your bearings will be protected in the coldest weather, even at START_UP, which is where most engine wear actually occurs. TRUST ME, I know!! You shouldn' tneed crank resurfacing, but take the time to platigage the bearings, or have someone who KNOWS what they are doing repair this thing, Usualy a little crocus cloth will clean the crank surfaces perfectly. THINK AHEAD, and LEARN form this experience. USE DEXOS oil of Mobil One or Amsoil in the future. You will save money and your engine sensors and converter will last longest. GOOD LUCK and HAPPY REBUILDING!!!
Q: 2001 ford escape wheel bearings? (rear)?
I'd agree with the previous answerer that you don't want cheap parts, after all you're the one who will be driving if they fail. Don't know where you live but in most areas you can go to one of the major auto parts stores and find the right bearings for the same price as those on the web and... the big advantage is that they can probably tell you if you'll need just the bearings or something else, plus you won't pay for shipping. One other point is that if you buy from the local store in most cases you'll find they have a warranty that will be a bit easier to use if it becomes necessary.
Q: I have this set of bearings i got recently with my skateboard deck i purchased on ebay, the board and bearings are brand new from 1988, the bearings was in there original package. When i took the bearings out they dont spin very much at all. They only read 608 zz on both sides and they come with silver spacers. Are these good bearings and if so, how could i beable to get these to work more better.
Those are probably just cheap bearings that aren't any good. I would recommend just getting new bearings. Buy bearings from Bones, they are the best. Bones Reds are the most cost efficient and work really well (~$12). Bones Swiss are the next step up if you have a little more cash to spend (~$35).
Q: im looking to get the alien workshop big takeover board and it says that it has ABEC 3 bearings...are these any goodafter i get the board and get used to it i might change to some bone reds bearingsare those anygood?here are the details on the boardFully Assembled Complete Features Reflex Hornet Trucks AWS 53mm White Big Takeover Wheels Reflex ABEC 3 Durabuilt Bearings Black Grip Tape 7.75 x 31.5 7 Ply Constructionsound good to you?
If you're a beginner I absolutely 100% reccomend the Enuff Sketchy skateboard. Comes with all that stuff you said up there, only much better quality, ABEC 7 bearings, ABEC 3's are rubbish. I learnt on it, and it was amazing. Great Pop. Smooth. Held together way better than some of the more pro one's i have had over the years. In the UK its ?54.99. If you are american then I have no idea, but i know that it's cheap and better quality than the one you want to get. Hope this helps and answers you question. (:
Q: im trying to open like a bike shop kinda thing, and i was wondering if like any kind of grease or lube will work for bike bearings and the handlebars.? help?
The grease you use will depend on where you live and the temperatures you reach. Hot climates will be good for most any grease. Wet areas you need waterproof grease. Shops in cold weather generally use synthetic to prevent the grease from getting too stiff. For general purpose use I have always sworn by Phil Wood waterproof grease. It's durable, blue (so when it turns black it's time to change it), and cost effective. For seatposts and stems I use white lithium grease. It has anti-corrosive properties and is available at any car parts store. Plus, when it turns from white to black, it's time to change it. On these components a little goes a long way.
