This sounds like the technician that diagnosed the vehicle either had bad hearing or he just did not care and said tell him it needs both of them to the service writer! Yes, the idea about they have equal wear (as stated by the other poster) it true, but, I am a fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it on the wheel bearings, because there is nothing that has to be taken off as an assembly (each side is an individual labor) So I would recommend replacing them only as they wear out! (tell him to tell you which side is making the noise!!!) ADDED; Also Please, When asking ANY automotive question give as much vehicle information as possible YMM (year, make, model) and engine size if possible! This is very important when diagnosing a problem, no matter how small!

Q:I cant put them in! I can only put it on succesfully on the inside of the wheel. The bearing wont go in the outside of the wheel(the logo side). just saying i use the method where you put it on the truck axis and press down with your wheel

Do what i do put in the bearing and push it in slightly with your fingers. Then get a screw driver turn it upside down (sharp side facing up) get a hammer and gently nail it in it will stay in and shouldnt even be dented or scrached!

Q:So i just bought some sector 9 ABEC 7 bearings. Is it ok if i buy the speed cream lubricant, take the bearings appart, and apply the lub without cleaning them? They are Like less then a week old (the bearings).

First off, they are a downhill bearing, if your street or vert skating i recumbent independent 7's. Second, speed cream is only really necessary when your bearings start to wear down and start to slow and make that horrible noise. if you put it in straight away it won't do much but collect dirt. so just wait a while.

Well if they still work, why are you gonna buy new ones? I wouldn't buy new ones unless they get caught, or I totally bust it out. But if you buy new ones you will definitely feel a difference. New bearings are smoother faster and overal more comfortable.

Honestly... unless you have very good bearings, the best thing youc an do is toss them and get a new set. Most bearings are inexpensive and rather cheaply made. If you are using something like bones swiss, then take care of them and they can last for years. What do I use to clear my swisses? Gasoline. Its dangerous, but nothing works better. Honestly, just get a new set if you are riding cheap bearings.

Q:We just got a 98 cavalier and it makes a sound when we make a right turn. It also make the sound when we drive straight but you can barely here it. We were told by a family member that the bearings probably need greased. How do you do that? DOes it sound like the bearings to you? Thanks

Chances are that your cv joints are worn out and need replacing. You can not grease these and make them better. The cv joints are kinda like u-joints. When you turn your steering, it puts the joints in a bind, hence the noise... usually a clunking or popping noise. Might as well replace both sides at once... When one goes, the other will be right behind it... Good luck........

Q:i need to change the bearing on my hyundai accent front passinger side, i got it all apart and see i need a press. would it be easier to replace the whole hub i so how do i go about doing it ? any link to diagrame etc.. would be appreciated

If you have the option of choosing between changing just the bearing or changing the whole hub then changing the hub is by far easier but also more expensive. You will need to take out the two bolts that hold the caliper on and wire it out of the way. Then remove the rotor. You may have to take out two screws to get the rotor off. now you will have to take the axle nut off of the axle stub. On most cars there are three torx head screws that hold the hub on. Take these out and disconnect the wires to the speed sensor if it has one and your hub is off. If you are just changing the hub then bolt the new one in place. If you are just changing the bearings then you will need to take the hub to someone with a press to change the bearings out. Then installation is the reverse of removal. On a few cars like my KIA you have to remove the entire spindle and have the hub pressed out. KIA is owned by Hyundai so they may be the same.
