Q: My daughter just spilled some Sunny D onto the carpet and it is not coming out. Any suggestions. I tried Oxy Clean, Resolve Carpet cleaner, and that other Duel Action one. NOTHING helped. Any home remedies..........Please help! This isn't the first time this happened. And still a light orange stain on my carpet. I would have thought that this would have came out easily considering that it is orange juice.
Give this a shot!! Dish washing or fine fabric detergent, white terry towels, white vinegar, warm water, measuring cup, spoon, vacuum. Work on removing the stain as soon as you notice it. The longer the stain is left on the carpet the greater the chances are of the stain setting. In every case remove all excess wet or dry material before attempting to clean. Blot wet materials using a white terry towel (check helpful hints for a detailed description of blotting). Vacuum excess dry materials or gently scrape up materials with a spoon. Mix 1/2 tsp. of dish washing soap or fine fabric detergent into 1 (8 oz.)cup of warm water. Apply a small amount, blot or tamp and repeat until the stain is removed. Be patient. Complete removal may reqiure repeating the same step several times. Tamp down on the carpet, do not scrub as this may distort the texture of the pile. Cover the stain with the towel and press down repeatedly to absorb the stain material and detergent. Once the stain is completely removed, rinse the area with cold water; blot with a dry white terry towel until all moisture is removed. Repeat this process several times to remove cleaning solution residue. (Residue can attract soils). If the spot or stain turns brownish when dry, mix 1 part white vinegar and two parts water. Apply a small amount and blot. Repeat only once. Precautions: Never use a stronger concentration than is recommended. Never laundry detergent or automatic dish washing detergents because they may destroy or dye some fibers. Hope this helps...
Q: that keeps shedding. it's a wool rug and I love it, but I just bought it and it shed shed sheds all over the place. What to do to stop the shedding.....or will it just continue forever?
Hi, This is a natural process of wool rugs shedding loose fibers from the weaving process. It will not hurt your rug just may be a little annoying but the great qualities of wool will make up for that. You may have to vacuum more often 2 or 3 times a week for a year or less until the shedding stops. If the rug is a longer pile like a flokati rug you can rake it with a garden rake (preferable wood or plastic) or uses a wide tooth brush or pet brush to brush it. Hope this helps and hang in there with the shedding!
Q: I bought an area rug from Home Depot, a large 7x9 rectangular rug. It has creases from being rolled up. I have searched online for any tricks that will help it to lay flat, and nothing seems to be working. I have:Rolled the rug the opposite way.Turned the rug over for 2 days.Ironed the areaI attempted to heat a wet towel in the dryer to place it on the area... but by the time I got the towel to my rug, it wasn't warm anymore.I've heard of any quot;ice cube trickquot;, but I seriously don't understand it. If the creased line is the length/width of the rug, do you place 7 feet of ice cubes on it???I have had this rug for almost 3 months! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you could give me any suggestions or tricks, I'd really appreciate it.
Lay the rug out in the sun to warm Then back roll the rug is the best way to do it. It should be back rolled around a tube. Carpet tubes work the best. Roll it tight. If the rug is large have some one help you. Then place in a very warm area such as out in the sun for as long as possible during the day. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: I got some nail polish on our carpeting. How do I clean it off? It's red nail polish on light tan carpet and it looks terrible!
A okorder to locate a pro near you. Carpet and replacement is expensive, ca;; a pro cleaner.
Q: What is the difference between woven carpets and hand made carpets?
Look at the back of the carpet. Hand woven carpet can be seen on the back of a set of buttons, and woven carpet is not visible on these buttons.
Q: I vacuum it and pick up anything that falls on it but I think its very dusty and dirty because where I live it gets really dusty in the apartment.I have heard about car wash but how will I dry the rug later? How much would a laundry cleaning cost? The rug is $150 and 5 by 7
Trust me throw it in the wash and set it to the setting you usually do to wash colors it`ll turn out just fine . Don`t bleach it though just use laundry detergent. And to dry it throw in the dryer. I have the same rug I tried this before I reccomend it.
Q: i have about 12 rugs for my horse weatherbeeta turnout 600 denier saxon turnout 1200 denier, zilco canvus, two summer rugs and a polar fleece rug he is a thoroughbred and seems to need to be warm. im wondeing how many i have to put on him? and what are the best brands of horse rugs in australia victoria i hope i can get some good answers thanks! =]
In summer I use one good paddock rug (something light) and my summer shade, non rip light rug. So on the cool days and nights they where a paddock rug and the rest of the time their summer coats are protected from the sun - because we show. In the autumn I use a heavier winter rug (disappointed with my latest weatherbeeta - the straps have broken, leg straps and surcingle straps). Then just before winter comes I use an under rug as well. In the Spring as the temperature permits I undress my neds. I haven't used canvas rugs in a couple of years, but I certainly see them as more forgiving if they are left on the the horse gets a little warm. So while I love my weatherbeetas etc they are time consuming changing them along with the rain clouds. Happy riding.
Q: We purchased the recommended pad for use on carpeted areas. The problem is that the wrinkles are pronounced/high. This diminishes the attractiveness and safety of the new rug.The rug was tightly rolled for shipping. It was laid across a bed for 4-5 days allowing the edges to hang hoping to straighten and smooth out these wrinkles. Now that we have actually placed it on the carpeted area it is disappointing that the wrinkles remain. I've contacted the vendor and they have no advise or help thus far. Any ideas?
De wrinkling a rug, You can try to back roll against the wrinkle. You need to leave it rolled up for a few days. You can try to steam it out, but it could take awhile. The oriental rug cleaners have a method of stretching a rug to get the wrinkles out, you might contact a local cleaner and ask about this service. You maybe should return the rug for another, tell them it is defective.
Q: I have a drain under the carpet almost in the middle of the room that needs to be fixed. The room is a big square and the only way to get to the drain is to remove the carpet. I dont know how to remove carpet and how to put it back in without damaging it or making it look bad. how do i do this? i dont really wanna pay someone to come do it for me
Usually carpet is held down with a tack strips that run along the wall. Just pry up the carpet at the walls roll the carpet up to the point you can fix the pipe...... Then after it's finished then roll the carpet back and use a knee kicker or power stretcher to stretch the carpet back into place, then tuck the carpet between the tack strip and the wall...... Also there should be a crawl space under the house, to get to the pipes.......There should some kind of access door to get down there, you just have to find it...... Anyway Good Luck..............
Q: I spilled some coffee on the carpet and nothing seems to take it out at the moment. Do you have any ideas?
Blot the area with a clean, white cloth to absorb all the liquid you can. Blot from the outside of the stain in to avoid spreading the stain. Mix 1 teaspoon clear, mild liquid dish washing detergent with 1 cup lukewarm water. Sponge the area with the detergent solution. Blot again with a clean, white cloth. Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup lukewarm water. Sponge the area with the vinegar solution. Blot with a clean, white cloth. Sponge the area with clean water. Blot with a clean, white cloth. Good luck
