Q:Water from a faulty air conditioner dripped onto a small area of the fitted carpet in our bedroom. The patch is no longer wet, perhaps slightly damp, but the smell is horrible. Any advice please. Changing the carpet is not an option.

If you have a carpet cleaner (or can borrow or rent one) I would do it. There are special carpet cleaners that are heavy duty and for mold/mildew/pets and will get rid of most smells. We had some flooding in a carpeted room, and it took a couple of cleanings, but you can't smell anything funky any longer. We used regular cleaner the first time and the heavy duty stuff the second time. As a temporary solution, you could out some baking soda on the carpet, leave a day or so and vacuum it up. But, if the smell is in the carpet pad, it won't do much.

Q:i wana get a russian tortoise can i keep it on carpet in its tort table.

NO it is not good, tortoises can inhale carpet fibers, and that can cause a RI or respiratory infection. Rep ti-bark is a good choice, sand is unsuitable because it is too dry and most tortoises like a more humid environment, also bad for burrowing. I have a russian tortoise ( good job at least someone other than me made a tortoise table! ) and he LOVES rep ti bark, he is around 1 or 2 ( i'm guessing) and when I put him in my house for a walk, he runs away from the carpet. So, no carpet for him because it will cost hundreds of dollars in vet bills. You can use rep ti it is as comfy as carpet but cheaper

Q:Need to find the best carpeting that will not show quot;traffic patternsquot;. What material is best for this? Money is not a big concern.

You want a very low pile, looks pretty much like outdoor carpet (that green stuff) if you know what I mean. But if money is no concern I would go with a company that recycles carpet where they come in periodically and replace it (so ware and stains are no problem) with new recycled carpet. These carpets are better for the environment and have lower VOC's.

Q:I have tried rug cleaning sprays and powders and vacummed it many times. I don't know what else to do and don't want to replace my rug!

White vinegar--it relatively is a large deodorizer, even on puppy urine. Plus it relatively is low-fee, organic, and works as a cloth softener,so it leaves the carpet delicate. It would not pass away a residue as many detergents and soaps do, meaning it won't entice dirt interior the destiny. The vinegar scent dissipates because it dries.

Q:Personally, I think they are kind of dumb. They get all messed up, are hard to wash and attract dog hair like no other. Do you think it makes a house look cheesy with no rugs in the bathrooms, entryways etc?

the rug might look a little funny since it will be on carpet, but if you add green things around your room, it will look fine. since your carpet is white, the rug will match with.

Q:I spilled a full ashtray on my off white carpet i scrubed it with carpet cleaner i still have a big black spot anyone know how i can get that out? Thanks

You should have not gotten it wet. You should have vacuumed it up right away. There is no real way to get that out of the carpet now. I have tried. I did the same thing. Spilled an ash tray, brushed off as much as i could, then used resolve. I still have the stain. nothing helped. Sorry :(

Q:Will peroxide remove rust stains from carpet?

Rust Stain Removal from Carpet 1.Vacuum up as much of the rust as possible. 2.Saturate the stain with lemon juice and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. 3.Using a clean, white towel or several paper towels, blot the rust stain to remove as much of the lemon juice as possible. 4.Using a solution of dishwashing detergent and water, re-saturate the rust stain and gently scrub with a toothbrush or small scrub brush. Scrub only within the borders of the stain as this can spread it. The purpose of the scrubbing is to loosen the rust from the carpet so it can be removed. 5.blot the area dry once more. Repeat until the stain has been removed.

Q:I'm looking for a rug that I've seen on TV many times, yet I can't find it anywhere on the internet. It's a large brown area rug and it has a huge white/cream hollow circle on it. Like the outline of a circle on it. I may have seen it on the Jeff Leis show one time, but I've seen it other places too. Please help?!?!?

Q:Me and my husband have been searching apartments for rent and 90% come with carpets. Being both from Europe, we are not used to the smell of carpet. We just wondered what happened in this country that so many people use carpets.

Hardwood floors are more common in houses and building built I'd say around 50 years ago. A lot of the housing and apartments are fairly newer so they just put down carpet. My guess is because when they build an apartment complex it's much cheaper. The smell that you're not used to may be the shampoo or cleaner they used to clean the carpet. I'd think the smell will go away after a while.
