Q: I went to a heritage craft festival last year, and there was a lady making rugs. It was at a Colonial period mansion, and she said the rugs were found in the storage of the family, and never finished. So she was using similar materials, and following the pattern to finish them. I guess it was rug hooking, but I don't remember her calling it that. She would take a very thick piece of wool and pull it through the backing to make a little loop, then, on the same piece of wool, just make a loop in the next hole, no knots, no cut pieces..she said the fabric was so tight and the wool so thick that it would hold it in, and eventually the bottom would become felt from walking on it (she showed me the older portions of the piece). Is that the same as regular modern rug hooking? it doesn't seem like it...does anyone know if this sounds right? does anyone rug hook like this? Thanks!: There are many different rug making techniques still used today. A magazine called Piecework recently had an article about rug making similar to what you described. There are other publications dedicated to rug making. Try googling rug hooking and you can find a lot of information and hopefully can learn more about this technique.

Q: I think Tide works great for brightening clothes and was wondering is there anything out there that brings out the color in older carpets (my carpets are about 7 years old and they are starting to fade in color).: I'm having the same problem and I just searched the net and found a place that recommended using hydrogen peroxide and it............. so tomorrow I'll buy some and try that. but if you find anything better than the shampooer please let me know too!!! My carpets are an off white and now look more like nicotine stains along the main walking paths! YUCK!!!

Q: what material carpet is better if the house is humid?: wool carpet is not suitable for wet house, because it is easy to mildew and become smelly. you can try plastic carpet, but it is not beautiful

Q: My ex landlord is charging me pro-rated costs to replace the entire carpet. While I don't think the carpet needs to be replaced, they said they couldn't get all the carpet installed before the new tenant moved in that they will replace the carpet upon the exit of the new tenant, whenever that may be. Can the legally do that? They've sent me receipts for the carpet cleaning have deducted the pro-rated amount to replace all the carpet. FYI I moved out the end of June, they sent me estimates the end of July now in January they've just sent me the invoices, I asked, for the work they completed, the new tenant moved in-in August.: Usually they have time frame within which they have to bill you.
