Q:What is the reason for the arch rise after the carpet is cleaned?
Because it deforms affected by moisture .
Q:I'm interested in re-carpeting our new house in two small bedrooms, which are approximately 12x14 each. I'm assuming carpet is $1.50 per square foot, but I have no idea about carpet padding.I'm looking into Home Depot for installation. What do you think a rough estimate for my budget should be?Thanks!
For that priced carpet, budget a minimum of 3$ a s/f for that carpet to be installed with a basic 5 1/2 or 6 pound pad. . Doing those measurements you have 336 s/f. Budget a minimum 1000$. Some times places like HD have specials to install whole house for 99$. This will bring costs down a lot. Closer to the 800$ range. Always budget a bit more for any surprises such as disposal of the old. Rip up if your not doing it and the outside chance of sub floor repair, etc. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. Q:The carpet in my apartment was old to begin with and then I got my dog a few months ago and we have poty training issues. Now my carpet and whole place smells. I bought a carpet cleaner and have tried all sorts of produts but nothing seems to work. I don't really want to have them done professionaly done because of the dog. Help?
Not much you can do really. Usually the smell is trapped in the padding and not the carpet. Only real solution I know is to tear it out and replace the padding and carpet. I would also contact a pro service (can usually get 3 rooms for $100). The equipment they use may be better than equipment for home use. Check the guarantee the company offers. Make sure they guarantee your satisfaction with the results. Just don't expect miracles...there is only so much they can do with smells in carpet pad.
Q:got new carpet it stained does they carpet have warranty? and they damaged my walls mad them dirty made wholes and chipped off the paint
They should warranty it if the carpet itself has a stain blocker warranty. Not all carpets do. Check your paper work for the type you have. Any good company will have given you paper work on the stain properties. Damage to the walls will fall on the installers shoulders. Take pictures and start complaining ASAP. Empire should contact the installers and make them pay for it. And your salesperson will handle the warranty work as far as filing a claim. Don t give in if it brand new and has a warranty. Most carpet warranties go from 5/7/10+ years and go on a pro rated basis if the carpet is older than a year. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:I have carpet in my kitchen (awful). I decided to change the oil in my deep fryer and just put a couple of grocery bags together and poured in in there. I mistakenly put the used oil in my regular trash bag. When the bag was almost full I pulled it out and set it on the floor to continue stuffing it. When I moved the bag I noticed that the oil had leaked out and is now all over my carpet. A huge spot. How do I get it cleaned up.
Before you use the dawn, try this: take lots of paper towels, newspapers, etc. and put them down, then apply a hot iron, this will absorb a lot of the oil. Keep doing it until there is no tangible oil. Then take Dawn. Pour it right on, let it set and then scrub scrub scrub. If you have a wet vac, vacuum up the water so the carpet and pads don't get moldy. If you don't, try to borrow or rent one. Good luck.
Q:I was cleaning my room, and the rug smelled funny so I got some carpet cleaner spray and some water, and scrubbed a large section of it. And that was like 2 days ago!And it still feels soaking wet.I'm scared it might mold. And I'm not sure if my mom is going to get one of those rug cleaner vaccums. And ideas on how I can dry the carpet?
Sounds like you used too much water.. t a dryer that blows under the rug and do it soon or you'll have the mold that you are worried about.
Q:I spilled some dark red nail polish on my carpet. I removed some of it with polish remover, but am afraid to use more because it might damage the carpet. Any ideas on how to get it out.
To remove nail polish from carpets, nail polish remover will work but you need to use caution because it can also remove dye from your carpet. On light coloured carpet it might not be noticeable but on darker colours. TEST FIRST!For carpet, always test any kind of chemical stain remover/cleaner in an out of the way place like a corner. Non-acetone polish remover is probably safer but no guarantees. Nail polish remover may be harmful to carpet or fabric.Do not use nail polish remover unless you read the label as it may be harmful to different types or carpet. You could also try using a lot of water, keeping the stain wet, then use about 15-20 squirts of hair spray and 3-5 splashes of rubbing alcohol. Scrub gently with a small scrub brush. Blot with paper towels. Repeat as necessary. Don't forget to keep pouring water during the process. You could try using shaving cream, Windex,or rubbing alcohol. I have heard some of these have worked. You could even try one tablespoon of ammonia and 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide depending on what colour your carpet is but make sure the room is well ventilated.
Q:We have a large carpet that we want to cut and lay over our cream one (to save it as we have a two year old) The carpet WILL fray and become untidy and we have heard that it will cost 80p per 12 inches to get it 'overlocked' or is it called 'binding' (the edges sewn up so it doesnt fray) and we just cant afford it as the measurements are 16 feet x 9 feet = ?40 (odd)... Ive done a little research and have come across 'double sided carpet tape' (?) also I see something else 'GLUE'.. that can be used. Does anyone out there know how we would do it... the tape AND glue (?) Can someone give me step by step instructions or directions on how to stop this carpet from coming undone and fraying. Thank you very much indeed. x
Paint the back side of the carpet with a latex glue. This product is used to make repairs to the edges of expensive wool rugs.
Q:I just spilled coke on the cream colored carpet and just scrubbed it down with a wet wash cloth thoroughly. The problem is that I don't know if it will stain when it dries. How can I get the stain out if it occurs without ruining the carpet. I live in an apartment and don't want any damage.
hi, i'm gettting this from a surprising e book we've pronounced as Spotless in basic terms all approximately cleansing and stain removing. (gentle drink / sugar stains on carpet) - For previous stains, stick to a pair glycerine to the stain with a cotton ball, and leave for a couple of minutes, then wipe it off with a sponge or textile. Sprinkle bi-carb soda over the stain and scrub it with a nylon brush. Then soak a clean white textile in vinegar, wring it out and place it over the bicarb soda. Stand on the textile so as that it absorbs the bicarb and the stain. you would be able to would desire to repeat this some situations. it could sound fiddly and a discomfort interior the bum technique, yet from my adventure it works. wish it helps.
Q:I have a beige carpet that is in need of a good cleaning.I'm looking along the lines of a product that I can spray on, leave vacuum up does a excellent job at eliminating odors/dirt.I am overwhelmed with the amount of products, not to mention I don't want to spend $20 on a product when I could get the job done with spending $6....thank you!
That's not going to cut it if you want a good cleaning. You can rent a carpet cleaner at your local supermarket but you're looking at about 50 bucks and it's back breaking work. Or for about 150 you can get a professional steam cleaner to come out with no effort on your part other than paying. Remember, there is no substitute for elbow grease.
