Q: Hello, My dog chewed my carpet in my apartment in a few places. I dont think it needs completely replaced but I want to pass the inspection when I move. It is quite obvious in a couple of places and we just dont want to be held liable for whole apartment replacement. Can someone give me an idea how to make it passable again?
I like the idea of taking it from a closet. Just want to forewarn you that the pet deposit is likely not going to be returned to you. And, if it were my carpet your pet ruined/damaged, I'd likely ask for it to be replaced- same condition as when you moved in- with normal wear and tear. I think puppy is going to cost you a bit for this chewing.
Q: i do not want a zebra print rug, i want wall to wall carpeting.i'm not sure where to buy it so please help!also how do you think it would look hot pink walls with the zebra carpet?
From okorder They do custom sizes with or without binding. They have free shipping on rugs, not sure about carpeting though. As for the hot pink walls, it's not really something I would like but it would certainly be unique. And as long it's what you would enjoy, that's all that matters. Good luck to you.
Q: It needs to be 8 feet by 10 feet and just be plain light creamish color. No designs, or swirls, or anything, just a light colored area rug! I cant find just a regular PLAIN one anywhere (not shag rug, just wool)... Any ideas or links are greatly appreciated!
For just a plain rug with no design like you want, the best thing is to go to your local mom and pop type carpet store. Pick out a carpet that meets your color needs. It ll come 12 ' wide so order a pc 12x8 and you can ( or they can) easily cut it to the size you want . They will bind the edges or have the carpet sent out to be done ( very common). You can even choose color of binding ( same as most rugs) or choose to have it surged, a different edging type. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: I need to know if its okay to put a bleach mixture on a white bath rug. Would it mess up the fabric? (was a gift from my husband grandmother)
If it's washable, then yes, you can wash it with detergent and add some bleach; fill the washer and add detergent and bleach first, then the rug. I wouldn't do it too many times, though.
Q: Do I Put the floor base moulding in before or after I carpet.. It would make sense to do it before because after to patch up the nail holes and repaint it you dont have to worry about getting paint on the carpet but it wont looks as large as the carpet would cover up a portion of it.. So my question is what is the proper time to put it in? Thanks
either way is acceptable. if you put the base on first, space it up about 3/8 to 1/2 inch so the carpet will tuck under. Carpet installers like to have the base on after because it's easier for them and covers a rough edge.Carpenters like to do it ahead of time so they can be done and can cut in the house without carpet in place. that saves them a lot of steps. from the homeowners point of view, being able to paint the trim without danger to the carpet is a plus, but realize that the carpet installers will bang up the new trim some, since the stretcher usually pushes against the trim. So You'll end up touching up the trim anyway.
Q: My brother has an area rug that constantly bunches. It is on top of carpet and we put a pad with that gripping surface under it, but it still won't stay put. We need something that will keep it from wrinkling every time someone walks on it. Is there a product (besides duct tape) that will do this?
You mentioned you have a pad. Is it a pad specifically made for a rug going over a carpet. If not that might be the problem. Rug to Rug hold pad is best. It is a thin pad that has a tackiness on both sides. It will not hurt your exisiting carpet, and will hold your rugs in place. It take a few days to get the pad to settle into its memory to hold your rug. A rug to rug hold pad will sometimes lose it tackiness to hold a rug in place, however if you can wash it usually that tackiness comes back. Don't put it in the dryer. The rug to rug hold pad sort of feels like post-a-note tackiness. Usually this type of pad can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe's and most rug stores will carry a variety of pads. If all else fails you can use double-sided tape, not duct tape.
Q: My sister-in-law gave us a lovely rug as a house warming gift 10 years ago. I prefered using the old wash and rinse method of cleaning it. It wasn't anything very expensive but it was, is, lovely.I lifted it to wash and store away for the summer but was saddened to see a thick layer of yellow dust like stuff exactly where the rug was laying. It seems the bottom layer of the rug has aged and is crumbling away into dust.Is there anything I can do to save it?
Is this a tufted carpet? It may be the glue disintegrating. Depending on the rug, usually there's not much you can do which would be cost effective. Sometimes you can re-latex the back, but this is quite a project... Tufted rugs are really meant to be disposable
Q: My carpet is AWFUL.Even the big, top of the line cleaning machines won't get out the dirt, stains, and ground in stuff in my carpet. I cannot recarpet it, I am 15 and my parents won't let me.What takes staind out? And what about dirt? Except for where furniture used tobe the carpet has gone from white to a lightl dirty beige.Any help will be wonderful, I can try anything, thank you.
If cleaning machines won't do it and you can't replace it, I'd buy slippers and try not to come in direct contact. Eeew.
Q: The carpet shall be cut, bonded and spliced into a whole piece, which shall be directly paved on the ground without bonding with the ground, and the surrounding shall be trimmed along the corner of the wall. This method is suitable for carpets that often have to be rolled up or the floor of rooms with unusual and heavy loads. Fixed type: cut the carpet, bond and sew it into one piece, and fix it around the floor of the room. Two methods can be adopted: one method is to stick the four sides of the carpet surface with the ground with adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape; On the other hand, we set up wooden card strips with upward nails on the ground around the room, and set the back of the carpet on the small nails with the wooden card strips facing upward.
The operation sequence (1) is connected to the size of the room carpet. The length of each section of carpet shall be about 5cm longer than the length of the room. The width shall be calculated according to the size of the edge buckle of the carpet, and the carpet shall be trial paved and positioned. When cutting the carpet material, the wool weaving direction of the interface carpet shall be consistent to avoid the generation of male and female surfaces. (2) Lay the cut carpet on the ground, fix one side first, then tighten the carpet with a tensioner, and then sew with the above stitching method. In the process of carpet laying, attention should be paid to make the wool weaving direction of the carpet consistent with the main light irradiation direction, so as to reduce the adverse effect of leaving anti wool marks on the carpet when walking, resulting in messy marks irradiated by the light. (3) After the carpet is trimmed by the wall knife, the carpet can be fixed by driving the carpet into the upward nail of the wooden card strip with a flat shovel. Finally, seal it with a pressure strip, and clean the dust on the carpet with a vacuum cleaner.
Q: How to clean the glue on the carpet?
If it is chewing gum or flexible glue like double faced adhesive tape or Black & Decker glue ( full- purpose adhesive), and banana oil. use the volatile oil, but the carpet will be damaged, chloroform and hot water containing soda are the best. transformer oil and rosin water can also be used; if it is glass glue, acetic acid could be used(vinegar essence, nail color remover); if it is 502, it is afraid of heat and alkalis; if it is epoxy resin (combining of two kinds of glues), white vinegar), Fengyoujing could be used if you are afraid of pollute the air.
