Q: how to prevent rugs from bunching up in the center?: You okorder but have not used it yet although it does look more promising than the rubber-looking black mesh pads! (We have those now and our rugs slide across the linoleum surface still).

Q: My cat has torn up a couple of sections of the carpet in my apartment. I went to Lowe's hardware and they have the carpet I need in stock. However, I keep getting the runaround about what I need and what I need to know to get what I need. I was told that I need to find out how my carpets are installed. I don't want to ask the apartment people because they will charge me a ridiculous amount of money to fix the situation. I have Shag carpeting in my apartment. I do not know how it's laid onto the floor. Is there a way that I can find that out? Also, is there anything else that I need to know? I haven't found any help regarding this except getting the runaround. Please help a girl out! :): I've had to repair construction damaged carpet in several houses - here's how I went at it. Go to a carpet store and ask for carpet tape - a wide version of duct tape. You should be able to get it as single sided or double sided tape. Take a piece of carpeting identical to the carpeting you have to replace, cut it large enough to replace the damaged section, and lay the new piece over the old. Keep in mind that the carpet has a grain or pattern to it, and in some types of carpet the direction of grain is quite pronounced - so make sure you match the direction of the grain to the original carpet. You may find it easiest to cut the carpeting patch from the back side, or use a knife with a blade designed to cut carpeting (see the carpet store again). As best you can, brush the shag pile on the existing carpet away from the line where you intend to cut it - it'll make cutting easier and the pile will hide the patch when the pile is brushed back into place. Hold the patch in place while you cut through damaged carpet, using the patch as a template. If you're uncertain, make the hole in the original carpet a little small and trim the patch to fit. Once the patch fits the hole in the original carpet, use the tape to fasten the patch to the original carpet (and to the floor if two sided). Get the cat de-clawed. ;-) Good luck with it.

You need 132 s/f. You can find cheaper and of course more expensive, but this is a mid range price. This will not include rip out and disposal of the old , but that can be negotiated into the price or you can do it yourself and save money. The stains you describe cannot be gotten out with a rented machine.Perhaps not even a professional. Figuring the 3$ a s/f , it ll cost around 400$ ( +-).

If the carpet is a beige or tan, I would try to saturate the area with some tea. Tea can be make lightly or strong, and it will stain. So try to put some color back into the rug. meanwhile, get a product called Anti Icky-Poo which will remove the odor.

Q: how to make a latch rug: Most people start with a kit consisting of a painted canvas, sufficient cut yarn to complete the project, and a latch hook. 1. Bind the edges of the canvas either with rug binding or with temporary tape to prevent raveling. 2. Take a piece of yarn of a color that's used at your starting edge. Fold it in half. 3. Insert your latch hook under the thread of the canvas that is the same color as the yarn. 4. Insert the fold of the yarn into the hook. 5. Pull the hook back out from under the bar of the canvas, keeping the loop of yarn on the hook. 6. Slide the hook forward in the loop, hook the two legs of yarn, and pull them through the loop. Tighten to secure. 7. Repeat 2-6 until all the rug is covered with yarn. Normally, you would start on a long edge and put a row of yarn across, then go to the next row (rather than completing all of a color at one time).
