Q: Okay so I'm renting a home. I had an emergency and i had to leave town. I was going to take my dog to a kennel but my roomate said he would look after her. So I left her with him and she ended up peeing a lot in one certain place. When I came back about two weeks later the carpet reeked of urine. I rented rug doctor and tried washing it but it didn't work. Then i got natures miracle and poured all of it but it didn't work. Then I tried simple solution, like the whole bottle and it still smells. I cant rip out the carpet because its not mine. Please help me.
We have always had good luck with Nature's Miracle. I know they have it at PetSmart but I would assume they sell it in a variety of stores. If the carpet is dry now you can get a few big boxes of baking soda and sprinkle it over the carpet, let it work for a few days and then heavy vacuum. It is cheap so spread on a good thick coat of it.
Q: what color should I choose....my walls are already a shade of green so I'm kind of looking for another color.
THEY BOTH LOOK LIKE TRASH
Q: If I find a carpet remnant I like at a carpet store, for example, will they cut it to the size I want or will I be stuck with whatever size they have? Will binding the remnant be sufficient to use as an area rug or will I need something else?
You bind an edge on carpet when you are trying to use it as a free lay throw rug. It keeps it from unraveling. There are several methods but extremely hard for a Do-It-Yourselfer to do on a piece THAT SIZE. An 8x10 carpet was cut or intended to go into a full room (probably a bedroom). The normal installation with pad would have stretched it to an edge strip called a stretcher' or nailer. In commercial / office, it would probably have been glued directly to the subfloor. Carpet is made by looping the dyed color strands thru a woven jute (usually jute) grid. Once the grid is cut to fit in a space there is nothing holding the jute from coming unwoven. Making a throw rug is the same until the edge where a bead is sewn onto the jute. It keeps the jute backing from unraveling. So, methods: 1. you can take it to a carpet shop and they can sew in the binder bead for you. 2. you can try running a stitch around the edge yourself. You'll need a carpet needle and some jute. It'll take you a week or so to stitch the edge. Before you do this, think about that bead. The raw edge of a carpet is not that pretty. The bead looks tons better. Take a look next chance at the edge of a simple throw rug. 3. Years ago, I used to weave small (2' x 3') throw rugs. In that world, they used a rubber cement poured thickly onto the backing when it was totally upside down. It took a few days for it to thoroughly dry that thick. As small throw rugs, it bound the backing weave AND provided a skid resistence when it was turned back over in use. The problems with the rubber cement idea are going to be significant for a piece that size. Containment of the liquid gooey glue at the edge will be a real issue while you're pouring it. Being able to lay out something that size for a few days will be a problem. And, it doesn't last very long. Movement against the sub-floor will ball up the rubber cement. Personally, I'd seek out a carpet shop that could install the edge bead. Hope that all helps you. .
Q: There are several chenille carpet material. Which is the best choice for the bedroom?
I have several chenille carpet, cotton, superfine fiber, light Weinasi, there is a recently developed light wire (this drawback is a hair, good decorative effect, looks bright feeling! I have been in touch with this industry for several years, and I think it's good to choose superfine soldering iron. It's very beautiful.
Q: hi guys. so i have a brand new rug i put in the living room. but sadly.. i think it must be the new thread smell.. or the smell of what it was wrapped in.. because it smells quite stale.. and is giving me a headache. this is my first apartment. and i dont have experience cleaning rugs.. can someone explain a good way to get rid of the smell.. astringents to buy.. or something to kind of wash the rug without staining or ruining it.. i can do it by hand.. i just dont know the correct approach.ps. i have a rite aid next door. so if i should get something there to clean it.. please let me know!also, whats a good cleaner to buy for a toilet bowl? i need some good advice thank u!
1] daytime - open all windows and turn on any fans 2] close/lock windows at night; and turn on air cond on high [ wear winter nighties ] 3] prob take a few days to air out PS: Lysol toilet bowl cleaner [ check smell of any cleaner before you buy it ]
Q: Which is better, polyester carpet or polypropylene carpet?
Polyester carpet and PP carpet of these two kinds of carpets are chemical fiber carpets, carpet look and feel similar to wool carpets, wear-resistant and flexible, anti fouling, anti moth and other characteristics, the price is lower than the other material of carpet. Therefore, these two carpet gap is not big, each has its advantages and disadvantages, preferences vary from person to person.
Q: Recently there has been a debate in the library in my neighborhood as to whether to replace the carpet with tile. Which is better for a library. Please note that a lot of school kids use this library.
I think carpet because it absorbs sounds. Tile sounds will bounce off of and make it noisier. I would have tile in the entrance way, bathrooms and staff eating area and carpet through the rest of the library.
Q: does anyone know how to get pop out of carpet I have tryed everyting and nothing seems to be working it is a lite colored carpet so you can see the brown stain the carpet is about 2 years old I have tryed the wax and iron and I have tryed the carpet cleaning stuff and nothing will take it out please help me
Try OxyClean. You mix some powder in water, soak the stain, and mop it up with paper towels. Good luck!
Q: My male cat just recovered from a urinary tract infection. He urinated on my beautiful fairly new woven rug for the very first time (he ALWAYS goes in his litter box); that's how we knew he had an infection. Ever since that one little offense, he decided that the rug is his and he drags it around my house. I sprayed and cleaned his tinkle off of it immediately right after the offense, why is he doing this? I put the rug back but over and over he drags it to other rooms. How can I claim my rug back?
Wow - I've never heard of a rug-stealing kitty. You should video tape it and put it on u-tube. But that aside, I'm not sure what to tell you to try. The only thing that may work is to spray the rug with some Bitter Apple spray and that should stop him from chewing on it and picking it up.
Q: Its almost thanksgiving which means lots of guest! I have nasty old stained grey carpet. what can I do in only a weeks time?
Ollie has some nice areas rugs also (if you have that store in your area). Or, pull up the carpet if you have wood underneath. Our carpet was NASTY and we just pulled it up, but beware. It took us 2 solid weekends to pull up the carpet, take out the staples (thousands of them) and wash (3x) and map and glo (3x) the floors. They look good now, but it was a lot of work. Got rugs at Ollie's. Two similiar ones - same colors, different patterns. (Thanks to Yahoo.Answers!) Also, you can use vinegar to clean the carpets. We did that last year. Rent the rug doctor but use a vingear solution. I think 1 c white vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Good Luck!
