- A rough estimate is approximately $1500.00. There are however many different brands of carpet. Whatever brand you choose, you'll want a good quality carpet padding. Also you did not state if you are going to need old carpet removed. If you do, this is an added cost. Are you installing the carpet yourself. Not recommended if you have not done this before. This is also an added cost if you'll need it installed. The best of luck to you! It's fun to redecorate, if only it weren't so darn expensive!!!

- Q: I have these holes in my carpet in multiple places (dog). To replace it, I was going to use the carpet in the closet. How do I do that (step by step instructions)? Where can I find carpet remenants?
- Take a utility knife and cut out a piece of carpet large enough to cover the hole from the closet. Be careful not to cut out the padding underneath unless you need it where the doggie made the holes. Place the carpet plug over the hole making certain it meets the remaining carpet. You can secure the plug using a hot glue gun or running double sided carpet tape around the edges. Now use your fingernails to blend the fibers on the plug into the fibers of the surrounding carpet. You can find carpet remnants at almost any carpet store, just ask. Also for larger remnants they sell end rolls at the Home Depot and Lowes.

- if i had it to do over again i would have put the snap together wood looking laminate throughout my home instead of carpet. carpet gathers more dust and pet dander, and stains. with the laminate i could have kept it clean between times with a simple swiffer mop cloth.vacuums make so much dust unless you spend an arm and a leg on them, i hate them. next time my floors are redone, it will be laminate. when we tore our carpet up i was shocked at the nastiness under it, not only the dirt that was trapped that the vacuum couldnt get, but the padding had made a lot of its own nasty dusty crap under there from being worn and walked on....i did put down berber carpet this time and no padding, not next time though. we dont wear shoes in the house, i dont know about rude,( it is rude when someone else wears their shoes on your carpet for sure) but its considered nasty, i dont wasnt someone possibly tracking dog knows what on my carpets...carpets gather dust, hair, and anything else that floats by.

- Oxidation causes it...it will also cause a carpet to turn yellowish is something is left in the same spot for a long period of time..... You need to move the rugs around, or leave them off for a while...wish I could tell you how to get the yellowing off, I can't.
- Q: Any time it rains my carpet feels damp..(no leaks) I have a brick home...Any suggestions?
- I had the same problem in sevral apartments. The problem always starts outside and ends up in your home. If you have it checked Ill bet you will find a problem with your gutters being too full of leaves. If so there is nowhere for the water to go but through any gap space or hole in your exterior wall. Now the water is in your home. It then drains down between your interior and exterior wall to where your interior wall and floor meet (there is always a gap there) and gradually over time without you even noticing you have a wet carpet. HERE IS THE BIGGER PROBLEM. Since this goes on behind the walls I gaurantee you now have MOLD growing behind your walls. This can make you very sick. Clean your gutters and have a company like gutter guard replace them and find the space that the water is getting in and close it up. Next get yourself a dehumidifier, pock a few small holes in the bottom of wall near where the carpet is wet and leave it running for a few days (empty it as it fills with water.) hope this helps

- Call of a good friend and bring a bottle of wine. If its a disaster at least the drinkin will be good.
- Q: Urine odor is old and on natural dye rug.
- Send it out for a professional cleaning. Normally I'd recommend Nature's Miracle (or a similar enzyme cleaner) as I do for carpet and furniture, but for a natural-dye rug (and valuable, I'm guessing?), don't chance ruining it with a DIY remedy.
