Pump has no failure-prone carbon brush or shaft seal so that a robust and long service life could be expected.
Q:and how do I get it to work 24 hours a day?and on the pump there is written: 2 A, and on another part: 220-240 Vdoes that mean its wattage is 440-480Watt?
You are correct Amps x Volts = watts and since there are about 750 watts per Hp then you have a 2/3 Hp motor. Water pumps can be either submerged in the well bore hole or located top side. A top side well pump relies on the air around it to cool the motor. THe motor may not be rated for continuous duty (see name plate on motor) and may only be rated for a limited amount of time it can be run before it needs a cool down period. (Typically motors are rated for continuous duty) Submersible well pumps are located under water in th well and use the water in contact with the motor housing to cool them. Cooling is thus related to the water flow around the motor and the availability of water. Normal well pump usage for a home is for brief periods when water is actually being used and to maintain system pressure. So unless you are constantly watering your lawn your pump should cycle on and off as necessary. Continuous running is a sign that there is a problem such as a leak, worn pump not achieving proper pressure, or pressure switch setting or similar issue not allowing proper shutdown. If you have a submersible well pump it will be very difficult to tell when it is running unless you can hear the motor contactor open and close or have an indicator light. A properly operating water system will pressurize an accumulator storage tank (water pumped into a tank which contains an air bladder that can be compressed). Once the tank is pressurized the pump shuts off and stays off until the pressure in the tank drops. Pressure drops when you use water or if the water leaks back into the well. At which time the pump runs again and tops off the tank. So in a properly operating system shutting off the well at night won't save you much because the pump should not be running. However if you have a leak and the pump is running a lot you can secure the power to the pump at night until you can get the system repaired
Q:Ok, if my intake manifold wasnt mess up and it could be my water pump would I still smell a syrup odor and WHY would it be leaking green antifreeze? especially when the antifreeze I use is orange?
Anti freeze (ethylene glycol) has a sweet odor, as for the color change, got me there. Some anti freeze's are green, have you drained and re-filled or just topped off?
Q:I have a 1999 Volkswagen Passat and the water pump seems to be leaking. The lower radiator hose has been replaced but it still leaks a fairly substantial amount. From what I can tell the pump is still doing its job but I'm losing coolant. Is there a way I can determine if i just need a new gasket or a new pump altogether without ripping the front end off? Any feedback is appreciated.
The coolant can leak from the hoses, the core or pump. You can detect these external leaks from proper visual inspection (a mechanic) or a pressure test. If it still isn’t found then it’s the head gasket.
Q:I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier the head gasket is shot[i think] checked thermostat and checked for clogs, flushed system, noticed bottom of radiator is cold but top is hot, is water pump shot?does not wiggle, or did i put thermostat in backwards? Steam poors out exhaust
Well, the most common failure on a water pump is that the seals go and then it begins to leak, and drips or pours down the side of the engine. As to the bottom of the radiator being cool, bear in mind that a large number of cars and trucks have a transmission cooler or oil cooler located at the bottom section of the radiator, and that would of course remain cooler than the cooling system as the oil or transmission fluid do not conduct heat as well, not do they tend to get quite so hot. I would guess you have not gotten the thermostat in backward, as if it were never to open, it would not allow the hot coolant from the engine into the radiator against the flow of the water pump. As to the head gasket, yes, steam from the exhaust is a fairly strong indicator that coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and being steamed off. Of course, that could also be a cracked block or cylinder head or a warped head that caused the gasket to fail, but the head gasket would be the first thing to examine.
Q:55KW how large is the water pump wiring?
Transmission within 100 meters, 70 square millimeter aluminum cable, or 50 square millimeter copper cable. If you exceed 100 meters, you'll have to add a number to the cable.
Q:can you give me some information?
place a bucket outside when its raining
Q:is there a surface water pump that can pump water from a 1000 foot well?
If what you mean with surface water pumps are those pumps mounted on the ground to distinguish them from submersible pumps , yes there are surface pumps that can pump water from a 1000 ft well. These are the so called jet pumps or deep well pumps wherein part of the output water is returned back to the bottom of the well pipe through the space between the outer pipe casing and the inner pipe and passed through a venturi opening to create an upward water jet which will push more water upward.
Q:can a worn water pump make the car idle high while in park when driven for a long period of time......03 grand prix
The water pump is only an impeller and moves fluid through the engine for the purpose of cooling. With that in mind, no, it should have no effect. Suspect you have a vacuum leak that is causing your high idle, check for a high pitched whistle and when you find it, fix it.
Q:i hear water swirl in my dash board when i take off and when i reverse, i heard its the water pump pushing water through the heater core, but how can i fix it.?
The issue is not just that the water pump is pumping air through the system, it is that there is an issue with air being in there in the first place. It gets there one of two ways. First, your cooling system is losing water somewhere and air is getting drawn in through the coolant overflow bottle or through a leak in the hoses, the radiator, or the radiator cap. Second it is getting in through a compression leak. Compression leaks are caused by blown head gaskets or cracked or corroded cylinder heads or engine blocks. You need to determine which it is, because you need to address the issues differently. Fill the cooling system with coolant, purge the air out of it, and connect a pressure gauge to the radiator where the cap normally goes. Start the engine. If the gauge fluctuates up and down, you have a compression leak caused by a blown head gasket or crack in the block or head. If the gauge doesn't fluctuate, you have a leak in the cooling system that could be in any one of many places, such as hoses, caps, freeze plugs, the radiator itself, the heater core, or one of many gaskets. If it turns out to be a compression leak, you need to pull off the heads and replace the gaskets, and if there is any corrosion or cracks, you need to either replace or repair the heads. Broken head bolts can also allow compression leaks, so if you do remove the heads, you need to replace the bolts and torque them to the correct specs. If your engine oil looks frothy, like latte, this is another sign that you have a blown head gasket. It means coolant is getting into the engine oil. If it is a leak in the cooling system that is not related to the head gasket, you need to find it and seal it. There is no other way to find out exactly what is allowing air into your cooling system other than these two methods. The sound you hear when water is flowing through your heater core is actually the air gurgling through. No air, no sound.
Q:my car ran hot a few times, its a 2006 chevy impala LS with about 50k miles.I do alot of driving but never had a problem until now. I took it to get an oil change and they said that I need a new water pump. I really dont know what that means but im afraid to drive my car until i get a new pump. i called around a few auto places and no one has the part. I called the chevy dealer and they said part and labor is $600. any suggestions of other places i can check for the part? can i still drive my car in the mean time? is it safe?are water pumps usually that expensive?
Actually a re-manufactured water pump costs less than $70.00 at any auto parts store. Any private mechanic will change it for a lot less than $600.00. If you don't have a large water pump weep hole leak with the associated loss of coolant do the following: For the time being you can cheat your cooling system's intimate standard 16 PSI (pounds per square inch) by going to Carquest and buying a 4 - 8 lb. radiator pressure cap. Change the cap when the motor and cooling system is stone cold. After installing it try not using your car's air conditioning system. It will raise the systems heat slightly. It's the pressure in the cooling system that causes a higher leak rate of the water pump. Keep an eye on the coolant level in the coolant recovery tank. Get the water pump taken care of before the snow flies!
