Q:I have to answer some questions about an except from Where I Lived, and What I Lived For by Henry Thoreau. I don't need an explanation for all the metaphors he uses and what they mean, but what is he talking about with the Pygmy thing? Do the pygmies battle the cranes because... they want to eat them? Are cranes just d!cks? Is a crane some type of weapon?

Q:I have found crane fly larvae on my kitchen floor in the middle of the night. Were are they coming from? How do I get rid of them?
probably not larva of crane fly...they live in the soil outside. Describe or post a pic what you have
Q:Is there a crane lifting chart where I can enter info. to determine what size crane I need, if so where?
the 1st answerer, Irv S, is right. You need to call a craning service. They should be able to give an estimate for crane size based on what you tell them. You will need to know what your Load weighs. How high in the air the crane will have to lift it. ....Putting a swimming pool in the back yard is completely different ....than putting that same swimming pool up on top of a 15 story ....building. How close to the Load can the crane park? Or how far you need the LOAD moved. What a crane can lift, even if it a 100 ton crane is based on how far the crane has to reach to pick up the load and how much the crane has to rotate to place the load. The angle the crane boom goes to, etc. Our 15 ton PH crane can lift 30 thousand pounds at 10 feet from the Turning center. And only a 1,000 pounds or less if the boom is fully extended with the Jib on, that is 125 feet away from the turning center of the crane. Distance is critical! They will probably need to see the work site to give a really accurate answer. Wingman

Q:What were Henry's reasons for becoming a soldier? What about the war was so attractive to him?Why do you think it took Henry so long to begin contemplating his part in battle? How do Jim and Wilson respond to Henry's question? What does this tell you about them?Share your thoughts...
Henry begins the book as an idealistic and completely self-absorbed teenager who wants nothing more than a chance to show off and be thought of as a brave and daring male. From Shmoop
Q:this is a little of a random question but why do you think that we should save the crested cranes of uganda? and what do you know about the crested cranes???
Because man is a reasoning being he has the capability of saving things. It is in our nature. Secondly, if man's activities are the cause of the Crane's extinction - destroyed its habitat or food source, then man should help reverse this.
Q:what does the expression, fate is a ninny woman, mean. from open boat by stephen crane?
Well, it means Crane was sexist, for one thing. :o) I think it means that he thought that fate could be fickle, capricious, and not appear to be very smart compared to how we would like things to turn out.
Q:Who invented the tower crane, please?
Tower crane originated in Western europe. The first patent on tower cranes for construction was issued in 1900. In 1905, a crane with a boom was fixed in the tower. In 1923, a prototype of modern tower crane was built. The first relatively complete modern tower crane appeared in the same year. Our tower crane started from Shanghai in 1950.
Q:LCS , MCS , HCS?
Good question! I have lots of experience driving cranes lifting boats in and out of the water mainly. But I don't really think this ever occurred to me. So I had a look around on the old www - which I do not usually do, much, in 'Answers'. But here's your answer, I reckon (another interesting QA site, too! - I leave you the thread in Source(s).): The steel used for crane hooks are based on the application. For cold temp. use you'll need LCC or low temp carbon steel (requiring Charpy Impact values of 15 foot pounds at - 25 degrees F. The materials used can be either cast ASTM A148, or 9060, or A487 4B or a forged 4140 material. All have the properties in the ASTM specs (see specs on line . com). All of these specs have specific heat treats that are part of the individual specs.
Q:Like those huge cranes on the top of buildings that are being constructed - how do they get them up there???
With more massive cranes. Sometimes, they will put them up in pieces - and assemble them on top of the building.
