- Q:When do you feel it is too cold or too hot for your horse and you need to rug him/her? How can you tell if your horse needs to be rugged or unrugged? Thanks, and could you also include some points about the differant types of rugs and what each are best for and when you should use them eg. winter rugs, summer rugs, cavasson (i think thats it:)), ect. thanks! xx
- A okorder / The higher the denier the tougher the rug. 600 denier will tear easier and be less water proof then a 1200 plus denier rug. I have the last one shown (Defender) is a great rug for really cold frosty winters. Tough denier and no neck rug attached, which I prefer for my horses that are not in much work. In spring I then switch it for a lighter rug, which they usually wear for a month or so before I leave it off completely. But please remember, even if you switch to a lighter rug, it will still need to come off each morning if it is warm and during their heavy moulting in the first month of spring.
- Q:I thought my rug would smell better after a whole day in the sun on my patio but it rained and it got wet I dried it again in the sun and now it stinks!I have brown stains on the BACK of the rug.I cant throw away the rug..it's beautiful.I can hire prof cleaners dont have steam/carpet shampooer.If you suggest home remedies, pls specify exact proportions.I guess I'll have to wash it with mild soap water in my tub let it dry in the patio again?
- Here is what I would do: Step 1: Wash the patio until it is very clean--use a tiny bit of dish soap if you have to. Step 2: Lay the rug out on the patio and get a good carpet shampoo and clean the rug outside on the patio (no water tracked through the house) with the garden hose. Step 3: Hang the rug in a safe clean area to dry. Try to avoid areas where kids and pets could knock it down or get it dirty. Also, avoid hanging it somewhere where dirt could get blown onto it. Remember, the sun can cause discoloration. Step 4: After rug is dry, bring inside and place back on the floor in the respective place. Spray the rug with Febreeze fabric refresher until it is damp. It should dry within 2-3 hours (max) and it will be fresh and clean. Tip: If it is supposed to rain or it looks/smells like it is going to rain, don't wash the rug. You need to allow it adequate time to dry. You will have a mildew smell in the rug if you don't. Also, if there is no moving air outside and it is really humid, the rug could still get a mildew smell. Make sure that the place that you choose to hang the rug to dry has moving air. Good luck! - Try rolling them the opposite way first and then lay them down the right way. You can also put some heatbond tape around the edges where it's curling up which will stiffen your rug and stop it from curling. The heatbond tape needs to be put on with a very hot industrial iron, so I sugest you take it to a carpet place and ask them if they will do it for you or know anyone that will!! The other thing you could try is sticking some double sided valcro tape to the underside of your rug where it's curled and some to your carpet and stick your carpet rug to the floor.

- Q:I purchased a very beautiful antique rug 2 days ago. The rug had been locked away in storage for years. It has a relatively strong musty odor. It is too delicate for professional deep cleaning. I have gently beaten it to remove dust, and now have it hanging in an open garage. I sprayed it with Febreze, but that only helps for a few minutes. Do you think it just needs to air out and give it time or is there something safe I can use on it? It is huge, like 10ft x 14 ft. No deep cleaners will touch it because they fear they will damage it. - you'll have to have a deep wash. if they're not touching it, they're not good at what they do, unless the rug is in shambles.

- Q:whats the difference between the two? i've done latch hooking but im wondering if rug hooking is the same thing or close?
- 2 differences, first you don't get precut yarn with rug hooking, you use a skein or ball of yarn, starting from the back with your hook on the top, pull the yarn through, making a continuous line. 2nd the hook in rug hooking does not have the latch over the hooky part. I did quite a few latch hook projects and tons of fun. I just recently learned rug hooking while on vacation. At first it is a little harder, getting a even tension and so that the pile of yarn on the top is all even and not splitting the yarn.
