- Im okorder ... Measure the rug and purchase a same-sized non-slip carpet pad online or from a home improvement store. Place it beneath the rug to secure it in place. Cut squares or strips from a roll of double-sided tape, and attach them around the perimeter of the underside of the rug. Remove the paper backing from each strip, set the rug in place, and push around the edges of the rug to secure it to the carpet.

- Jenny is right about using a thin matt under the rug after you get the corners flat and the 1 st poster said to iron it.. If you try and iron any thing with nylon fibers you ll melt them and ruin the rug. So to answer you question, 1 st turn the rug over and place on a warm spot such as a heat register. You may need to do 1 corner at a time.Heat will relax the backing and help flatten it. Small weight on the corner ( such as a book or some magazines) help help too. You may want to even back roll it and warm it. This will flatten the corners out while its getting warm. Then use the matts recommended for you rug. There are matts for rugs over hard wood, over a hard surface and rugs over carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar..GL

- Q: how or what can i use to get the sticky residue off carpet ? previous owners put vinyl tile over carpet which was stupid does anyone know what i can use to get the sticky residue off carpet?? i have goo gone not sure if it would work does anyone know what would work.. that wouldnt take alot to get it off carpet.. seems to be those self adhesive tiles that are on top of carpet.. i'm lifting tiles off but the residue is on carpet making you stick kinda to carpet.. The floor in the great room is wood planks but is there a way to stop moisture from rising and making the carpet smelly? - The dirt surface in the crawl space needs to have a total covering of heavy plastic sheeting. Let it come up the sides a bit and secure with rocks or blocks. That will solve your moisture problem, unless the dryer vents into the crawl space, which is bad.

- I have used the rug doctor and it does a good job. But I would recommend you hire a carpet cleaning service. With a rug doctor you really need 2 people and it's really not an easy job. I think the steamer method that the profressionals use is best because it doesn't leave any soap behind in the carpet which attracts dirt and the carpet will have to be cleaned again sooner.
