Q:my tires were shaking everytime i drove on the highway over 60mph. and everytime i made long turns left or right. like when i‘m entering or exiting the highway. My right front tire got a flat but the mechanic said he is not putting that tire back on my car so i bought a new one and i notice that it did not shake anymore on the right side. So i‘m thinking i should change all the tires. but now the left side is shaking period not matter if i turn or not and if i go faster than 50 mph. the whole car is shaking and its sounds and rides like the tire is flat. But i checked all the tires and put air in it. and it is still shaking. i know for sure i need new tires because I can barely stop without sliding but what is the shaking, do i need the tires rotated or something?
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT U HAVE A BROKEN BELT (VERY DANGEROUS) LOOK AT THE TIRE THAT IS SHAKING, CHECK IT VERY THOROUGH. IF U HAVE TO, HAVE SOMEBODY GET N THE VEHICLE AND PULL IT FORWARD WHILE U WATCH THAT TIRE TO SEE IF IT IS OUT OF ROUND. IT WILL LOOK LIKE THE TREAD HAS SHIFTED TO THE SIDE AT ONE POINT. IF U SEE THIS REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY DO NOT PASS GO DO NOT COLLECT 200 DOLLARS GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR TIRE DEALER. IF THAT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM W/ THE OTHER TIRE THEN I WOULDN'T BUY ANYMORE OF THEM. ALSO ON THE SIDEWALL IT WILL HAVE A BIG SUNK IN PLACE WHERE THAT BELT MAY BE BROKEN. IY HAS HAPPENED TO ME. YOUR TIRES R VERY IMPORTANT
Q:when i go to a tire store to buy new tires, they add a tire disposal fee with the new tire. is it an EPA law or what?
Many, but not all, states collect tire fees. In states where there are no tire fees, tire dealers, junk yards, etc. may charge customers for disposal (or may include the cost in the price of the tires purchased). In most states, the fees collected are dedicated to tire recycling and scrap tire cleanup, however, some states may use these funds for scrap tire management and market development. Other states use a portion of tire fees to fund other state projects. Each state makes its own scrap tire laws and regulations.
Q:I bought a new car and it came with four-seasons tires. Should I get Winter tires? Are the Winter tires much better? And yes, it does snow a lot in my state.
I have used snow and ice tires for the last 14 years on three different vehicles. They have saved me many times over from having an accident. Four tires mounted on rims will run about $400 to $600. I have $1,000 deductible. They pay for themselves when just one accident is avoided. I recommend Bridgestone Blizzaks. Mine came from The Tire Rack. You will do much better with a set of snow and ice tires. They provide an amazing amount of traction. Synthetic motor oil. 0w20 or 5w20 to ease starting. Be certain the window washer fluid is rated for the temps in Kansas. Always keep the gas tank half full or higher. Don't let the gas gauge get below 1/2. You don't want any water freezing in the gas tank. Good Luck
Q:is ther a reason car and truck tire are black? if another color would they remain that color?
production-wise, I would assume that there are less chemicals, dyes and expense involved when keeping vehicle tires black. I HAVE, however seen bicycle tires that are green, orange and blue... this might have something to do with the hardness of the rubber and the process of producing that hardness. Blue and orange were on competitive mountain bike wheels that were on fairly loose soil and a softer rubber allowed a better "bite" on the surface. Just an educated guess, hope it helps a little.
Q:I have noticed that all the Nascar tires are not 90 degrees and looks like it is slanted. Does that mean they get more grip or something? And why does the pit crew put tape on the new tires?
The tires are slanted because of something called camber. This is where the tire touches the track, or how much of the tire is touching the track at any given point. On the straightaways, the tire is only touching the track with the inside portion, but in the corners, the whole surface is touching the track. I've never heard of them putting tape on the tires, unless you are referring to stickers, which just means they are brand new tires, they've never seen track conditions, and the pit crew just put them on the car.
Q:Hi, my car has 245 / 50 / 16 tires. If I get 245 / 45 / 16 tires will those work just as well? I need new tires and someone is selling rims/tires of that sizeWhat does the difference mean?
Let me break down the tire size for you: 245 the nominal width of the tire from sidewall to sidewall in millimeters. It is not exactly 245mm because it is a nominal size that fits within a range of acceptable side wall flex and tire loading. 45 Aspect Ratio. It is the height of the sidewall (from rim to top of the surface tread) expressed as a percentage of the tire width. Therefore, 45% of 245mm 110.25mm For a 245/50 that means the sidewall is 122.5mm 16 wheel diameter. The tire will only fit on a 16 wheel. So, if you replace the 245/50s with 245/45s you will have a significantly shorter tire (by about 1 inch). This would significantly shorten your tire circumference which would cause an error in your speedometer. The load range of the smaller tires will be lessened as well meaning it could be less safe if the actual Gross Weight of your vehicle surpasses this range. You will experience a harsher ride. There will also be the effect of having a lower gear ratio in your car (you'll get worse gas mileage but your acceleration will be a bit better-if you care). Last but not least: It will probably look stupid. If you don't do anything like lower the suspension you will have this ugly fenderwell gap for all to see. My suggestion: Keep the original size. And if you want an upgrade change the whole wheel/tire package to what they call Plus One or Plus Two sizing.
Q:Especially seen on motorcycles with Fat tires. They have FAT rear tires and thinner and maybe even smaller front tires. Why is that so?And can you name me motorcycles with FAT tires both front and rear? Same size etc?
Trying to turn a motorcycle with a wide front tyre is very difficult. A narrower front tyre improves the handling. Some years ago, when I worked in the trade, I test rode a custom-built motorcycle that had 360mm wide front AND rear tyres. It handled like a pig on rollerskates, because of the wide front tyre. I'm not aware of any current production motorcycles that have tyres the same width. They would not be practical to ride, so nobody makes them.
Q:Might be a stupid question but im just trying to find out what my next set of tires will be and im looking at off road tires between 33 and 35,im currently running 33s.Im pretty sure I know what it is,but instead of making my self look like a jackass when im wrong I figured I would ask.
If you sleep buff, you should always have slippers and a robe handy just in case. Lay them by your bed so you won't scare the survivors to death.
Q:How long can a car tire be used?
Even if the tires look good, the proposal is still to be replaced, because the tire material is the main material of rubber, rubber in the case of long time will be aging, not to mention the use of the environment often used by the wind and sun it. Tire aging, the hidden dangers of a lot, ranging from normal driving in the case will increase fuel consumption, while the weight will be because of the tire tread traction, adhesion decreased significantly, resulting in increased braking distance, wet road Prone to "drift situation", if not replaced in time, traffic safety risk will be greatly increased, for security reasons, the timely replacement is very necessary.
Q:I just bought a 2007 Chevy Silverado and when i was messing around with a button near the odometer, a message popped up that said RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS. I‘m guessing it has something to do with some sensors near the tires that will tell you when your tire pressure is low. So, my question is, how do i ‘relearn these tire positions‘?
