Q:The problem with putting a rug on carpet is that the natural nap in the rug and the nap in the carpet work against each other. Makes bumps like you wouldn't believe (even if no one walks on it). Furniture on top of the rug makes it worse.Does anyone else have this problem and if so have you been able to fix it, or at least minimize the bumps on the rug?
Bumps In Carpet
Q:What materials does the full carpet have? How to choose a carpet for a large space?
1 the material of full blanket: Wool blanket (the price of new wool is suitable for high-grade spaces) chemical fiber blanket (the prices of acrylic fiber and nylon are suitable for the public places)
Q:Im replacing a carpet afrer one and a half year use.can i use the same padding under the existing carpet?
Yes you can. You pad should still be in good shape. When you order your carpeting just tell them you want to use the existing pad. There should be no problem.
Q:I am having new white carpeting installed in my house. Curious how others who have white flooring keep it clean.
How To Keep Carpet Clean
Q:I was thinking of getting my new apartment re-carpeted. I bet I can get the landlord to pay half, but out of curiosity...can anyone give me an estimate of re-carpeting a small studio apartment with some flat (not fluffy) basic carpeting?
First, you need to find out your square footage/yardage. If carpet you are looking for is sold by square foot, obviously that is easiest to calculate. But if by sq yard, take your square footage, and divide by 9, I would add 5% to that as carpet runs in 12 foot and 15 foot widths, and must run in the same direction. A basic builder grade of residential carpet can run 15 bucks a sq yard installed with a cheap pad, pretty much the same for your basic commercial loop grade. Padding, however, is key.I would definately invest in the pad upgrade and not the carpet upgrade if money were a factor. The less movement the carpet has, the better it wears, meaning a dense, hard padding is the best, 6pound density or above.
Q:I have an ugly pink-tan carpet that has to go. Underneath the carpet is wood. But the wood is a bit rough and doesn't have any color to it. How do i remove my carpet and fix up the wood floor underneath?
How is the carpet attached to the floor; is it glued down, tacked at the edges, stapled, etc.?
Q:How much could it cost me to carpet or laminate my living room, dining room, and up the stairs?
I think I paid like $3.25 or $3.75 sq. ft. for my high-end laminate. You can tell it's fake but is the best looking laminate I could find. It came with individual beveled planks, 3 sizes, to make it look more like hardwood. It was for my basement family room. I would have gotten hardwood, but I didn't want to pay to install a sub-floor. For resale value, I'd recommend going with real hardwood. It looks so nice and is quick to clean with a Swiffer Vac. It sells around $3 sq. ft. and up.
Q:What about carpet shedding?
Finally, the most simple wool carpet can prevent hair loss, which is the use of anti hairfalling agent, but, like the anti hairfalling agent must be used as required, otherwise, the excess not only will not solve the carpet shed problems, will also affect the softness of the carpet.
Q:how often do u buy new carpet for ur house?my husband has never got new capet in this house since he has lived here. and the guy lived here before had the same carpet. I think it is a time for some new carpet. My husband lived here 5 years so far. so who know how long the guy before us had this carpet. how do i get my husband to buy new carpet? also we own the house
For most households, five years is pushing it. Lighter colored carpets and those with house pets usually go faster. Normal maintenance calls for thorough vacumning 1-2 times per WEEK along with bags/filters regularly replaced and then annually steam cleaned. People also fail to realize the health issues carpets can harbor, over time the culprit of allergies sinus irritation. One of the easiest things to show your pride of ownership is to change the carpet... it can be very inexpensive if you shop for remnants at a good local carpet store/outlet; avg $100-$200/room or $15/sq yard with new pad install. Take your room measurements, see what you can find (bring some sample clippings home to hubby if he's not interested)...you'll know for sure that it's time!
Q:We had some pee spots on our area rug while house breaking our dog. We rented a rug doctor steam cleaner and cleaned our rug but now I can smell dog pee just sitting on the couch. I can assure you we were very thorough in cleaning this rug; went over the area many times using over half a bottle of solution then ran just water several times to get up all remaining soap. I can understand that it seems we have loosened and spread around the pee, but if doing a through job with a steam cleaner doesn't work, what else can I do? Now I couldn't even spot treat since it is all over now. I would assume the pee is up but the odor remains. There is no carpet pad under this rug which I know can be the problem with carpet. This rug is only 6 months old, how can I save it?!
The first problem is the Rug Doctor. The machine is way too underpowered to extract all the urine from the rug. It's like trying to boil a pot of water with a Bic lighter... same idea of being horribly underpowered to get the desired results, though it has the same basic method. A higher-end truckmounted unit is needed. The second issue is that cleaning alone will not eliminate odor. That's why separate deodorizers are available. Something with natural enzymes may counteract and neutralize certain odors. Also, all areas of contamination must be treated, such as the underneath of the backing of the rug. Another reason is that this kind of cleaning will bring odors up and out into the air (plus any heat will basically help activate odor causing bacteria), so you'll notice them more for a while. If your rug is made of wool, you may be smelling another odor as well. When lanolin (the sheep's body oil) gets wet, it puts off a strong odor... kinda like a wet dog smell. If that's the case, that smell will go away in a day or so. If it was an expensive rug, you may want to foot the bill for a professional cleaning company using the hot-water-extraction method and also have them deodorize it.
