- Ok, is the carpet still wet?? If it is, then get yourself a dehumidifier to dry it out. If it is dry and still smells then there is most likely mold under there. The mold smell will not go away and the worse it is, the worse for your health it is. Have the carpet steam cleaned first, then still get yourself a dehumidifier to dry the carpet this time just to be sure it dries in a timley manor and does not do this again. If after a steam cleaning it still smells... well then the carpet is ruined and will have to be replaced. Good luck.

- If they are washable rugs. Otherwise, yes you could very well damage the material the rugs are made from and could cause damage to a regular washing machine.

- Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. - Q:We have our carpet cleaned once a year and after 6 months all the stains are back. A carpet cleaner told me if it was cleaned properly the stains wouldn't return. My carpet is a type of berber, but not the good berber. I have always used steam cleaning. My question is would a chem clean be better. Another carpet place told me probably the stains were down in the pad. Is there a cleaning that would go deep into the pad otherwise I am faced with getting 1200 yards of new carpet. You imput would be greatly appreciated.
- The best carpet for cleaning is nylon. Most inexpensive berber is made from Olefin, which by it nature is very difficult to clean. Olefin is an oil derivative and once anything greasy goes down it kind of binds to the carpet. As to why the stain reappears, the answers that you have gotten are correct. All carpet cleaning methods only clean the fibers of the carpet not the base. Once it is cleaned it looks clean only to have whatever is down there wick right back to the surface. There is no system that cleans the pad or the backing unfortunately. There are some powders that once placed on the carpet will pull the stain to the surface for better cleaning, but it is a very time consuming expensive process and probably not worth the trouble. The only thing that I can recommend is to make sure when you do have your carpets cleaned that they are using truck mounted steam cleaning. That is the most powerful method in the business and if anything has a chance of sucking up the dirt that is it - Good Luck!

- I use a 1200D winter blanket with extra insulation on cold days, and a 600D winter blanket with regular insulation all day, every day, beginning february to start help them shedding out. He also get's a hood, but it gets checked and adjusted several times/day as they can become a hazard. During summer days, my horse get's a fly scrim with UV protection, and a night he get's a polar fleece rug with double front enclosures and crossunder belly straps (which becomes a royal pain to keep clean, but it keeps him warm and cozy at night.) After showers or getting sweaty, he get's a square polar fleece sheet that just loops on the halter and in front of the neck. Rainy/drizzly days he gets a water proof turnout, and on cold rainy days he gets the polar fleece underneath the water proof turnout. I get lots of rugs and sheets and blankets from reining, so he has quite a variety for all weather conditions. For other horses that don't get checked several times throughout the day, I would suggest not blanketing unless necessary. A lot can go wrong with blankets, and horses are always getting in trouble haha
