- Q: Last night i cleaned my carpet using a carpet cleaner, and it all seemed to go very well leaving my carpet clean and fluffy, but the following morning when i woke up my carpet was really flat. what did i do wrong? how can i de-flatten the carpet?? could it have been that i didnt properly rinse all the soap from the carpet??
- Just for giggles...I would fill the soap reservoir with clean water and go over the carpet again, basically.....giving it a thorough rinse. Then, after it dried, I would get a stiff brush and comb the carpet....you can use a shop broom (a clean one!) or a hand brush if you're willing to have it take a bit more time. You need to rough up the fibers for it to stay fluffy!
- Q: I found a bath rug that is the perfect color for my kitchen but I don't know if it matters that it is a bath rug or not. What is the difference? And would it matter if it was in the kitchen?
- The only tme it matters is IF the backing to the rug is latex AND it is going over a vinyl flooring that is light colored. Latex backing will turn the vinyl yellow over time and for some reason, it tends to happen more in the kitchen then in the bathroom. I had a latex backed rug in the bathroom for 10 years, but picked it up and hung it to dry after the last shower of the day. I had the same rug in the kitchen which I picked up and washed whenever it needed it, but it was on the floor continuously for most of the time. The same vinyl was in the kitchen that was in the bathroom and the kitchen vinyl yellowed while the bathroom did not. And, it also happened to several of my renters as well. One of my genuis tenants used a carpet pad underneath the one in the kitchen, she lived there for 6 years and that prevented it from happening to her...

- Take the rug to a laundromat and use the oversize commercial washer, cold water and just a little detergent; too much soap and the rug will not spin dry well. Use the oversize commercial dryer too and use low heat. A lot of the hair should be gone now. If not, use your vacuum again to see if that makes any difference. Now if you're still dissatisfied with the result, weigh the cost of a professional rug cleaner against the cost of a new area rug. Life is too short to stress over an area rug princess!

- Not a very nice thing to say about your mother. Bleach does not stain. (Now who looks soooooo smart) It has no color, it is a color remover. Nothing you can do to fix it on carpet but remove the carpet or replace it.
