- Q: paste that site and please tell me if i should buy these bearings, i know i should buy redz bearings or something else, but tell me if you had a money limit, would you buy these bearings.
- Don't buy these. The main reason is they have crimp on shields. Dirt gets in them easier and thee is no way to take them off to clean or lube them. Unless you are ordering other things from them, the shipping cost will double the cost of the bearings. You can get better bearings like Bones Reds, at a local skateshop for the same price.
- Q: Rods amp; bearings need to be replaced in an 98 Explorer. Need a temporary fix. Thanks.
- In the olden days hucksters would add sawdust to the crankcase to mask the bang of bad rod bearings. Very fine sawdust would make it through the filter and pad the worn bearing. It would quiet the noise for an hour or so. When a rod bearing fails it must be replaced as soon as possible. The bearing is a sandwich of an outer steel shell, a thick layer of bronze, and a thin layer of babbit metal. The babbit metal is gone and the bronze is being pulverized, while the oil pressure to the other bearings is being bled away. If you haven't been driving on it for long you may get away with new bearings; otherwise an engine rebuild is mandatory. Only dropping the pan and inspecting the bearings will tell for sure, but if it has been driven an hour or more like that the odds are poor. Here is one that was not going to last another minute... literally.

- Q: I need to get my honda aquatrax trailer's bearings greased up and I'm no handy man. I don't know if the PWC (jet ski) dealer (also a motorcycle dealer) would be willing to do it or if i have to go to a car mechanic.
- your marine service shop should be up to the task of maintaining your marine trailer too. if they arent, you shouldnt be going to that shop to begin with. any normal car mechanic should be able to handle it too. its actually a very easy job, if you dont mind getting grease on your hands. wheel bearings are wheel bearins are wheel bearings..... and there are also places that deal more specifically with trailers. they would be able to handle your marine trailer maintence too. i would suggest you add a set of bearing buddy caps to your shopping list for parts. they have a fitting on them that allows you to pump grease into them without popping them off. and a spring that forces the grease through the bearings and out the wheel seal (if over pumped you will ruin the wheel seal). just pull off a little plastic cap, check that the spring is half compressed and you will have no bearing worries ever again. if the spring is ever getting relaxed, pull out the grease gun and give it a few pumps. bearing buddy caps claim to be a final solution to keeping the bearings full of grease and working properly. IF used properly and kept full, that claim is true.

- The reason for this is that EVERYBODY replaces old ball and race bearings with tapered bearings, even on my antiques, as they are far superior, last longer, and require little or no maintenance.

- I assume you have tried shielded bearings, where the grease is contained inside covers that prevent its loss? Or possibly you do not have the funds to replace the bearings? Etc. I do not know the size of your pump/motor or whatever the bearing is on. I will tell you I have seen in an industrial setting on what I would call a small pump, they actually put a bag around the bearing housing to catch grease. Of course, the shaft ended at the housing so the bag did not have to come in contact with the rotating assembly. You could probably get more useful answers if you re-ask your question describing the size and physical configuration of the bearings and their housing.

- What ever you do please don't try to change them yourself. Special tools are needed (press sleeves) and a press to do the job! A Toyota dealer will have an ultrasonic listening device which will tell you which bearings are bad. You, more than likely will not feel anything loose when the wheels are off the ground. Locally, NAPA will have SKF American made bearings. Carquest has Timken wheel bearings.
- Q: I had found out bones reds are one of the most best bearings for the money, and lots of mates have them so I bought some bones red's from Trademe (the New Zealand version of ebay) and they were real and all. as soon as I got them I rode them all around. but after about a week they were worse than my abec 3's. So I changed Back to them. While I was at the skate park People were saying that bones reds just need wearing into. so I cleaned them by soaking them in turps then putting speed cream on them. I have been skating heaps this month. but still not beta...???So any advice or help of what im doing wrong would be appreciated
- Don't buy anything from anyone you don't know. Never buy from Trademe or eBay because somehting might be wrong with it. If you're going ot buy online then go to a trusted skatesite or a skateshop. Your Reds are probably dented causing more friction. Just pick up some FDK's ($10 abec 3's) or some new Reds.

- Three figure bearings are really quite straightforward in that it simply means that all bearings are measured clockwise from North. Examples N 35 ° E = 035 ° SW = 225 °
