I can not put it in the washer because it is a high effenincy washer and it will ruin it when it gets wet.: Put several thickness of towel under the area. Try sponging the area your dog messed with a solution of warm water and white vinegar. That will neutralize any odor and sanitize the rug. When it is almost dry, leaving the towels under the rug, iron the affected area with a warm iron. This should allow you to smooth the bums out. Make sure the water isn't too hot and the iron not set more than medium heat.

Thanks a lot ppl.: rug doctors work great! last time I rented one from the supermarket, it was 50 or 60 dollars (CDN) plus you have to give them a credit card number. by the time I bought shampoo ( I use vinegar as the defoamer) it cost 80 or 90 dollars total. how wet the carpet gets depends on how wet you make it--the machine gets most of the water out. if you plan on shampooing furniture and stairs, be sure to get the upholstery attatchment

Second - price will play a huge part in the size and type. Since this is for an elementary school and they probably do not have rug/carpet in budget, my guess is that you will be paying for it? Suggestion - go to a local carpet store and pick out the least expensive to your taste, have the store order to your size and then have it bound around the edges.
