Q: I live with my husband and our toddler son in a decent sized three bedroom apartment, but I am having a little problem...our carpet is looking very sad. It is smushed down in higher traffic areas and I am not sure how to revive it. I vacuum regularly, and I also clean it monthly with my upright shampooer, but it isn't really helping. Any suggestions?
Maybe using the shampooer on it so often is taking the life out of your carpet. It's good to use once in awhile, but I think a regular vacuuming would do the job. As for getting your carpet perked back up- there are attachments you can buy- some look like rakes and it will plush the carpet back up (it will only work if you have plush carpeting).
Q: I have a big rug in my bedroom which I would like to bring to school- however it smells bad from jsut being on the floor for so long. I would like to clean it just enough so that it won't stink up my dorm room WITHOUT calling a carpet cleaner. Any suggestions?
You don't say what the rug is made of....if it's the kind that folds up easily and can go into a big machine at the laundromat...then wash it that way (using a good detergent and Tide Stain Release in-wash booster packet and add some good fabric softener).... If it's the kind of carpet that needs shampooing: then rent a machine that will clean the carpet with some good carpet cleaner (go to Walmart...they have Bissell's Pet Remover solution or WM also has their version at cheaper price. This solution is great at removing strong odors from carpets and leaves a great scent). OK...you don't want to call a cleaner...and if you don't want to rent a machine either: how about trying a good steam cleaner and running it over and over the rug to sanitize and clean it? May need spot remover for stubborn stains where you see them. You'll have to put a little effort into this project if you want to live comfortably with the finished product.
Q: I have a very large area rug. It has lots of browns blacks. I want to lighten it sum how dye a medium-dark blue. But I may have to dye black. I like the rug it just doesn't go with my sons room decor. Please Help. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
Results will depend on what material the rug is made from. Also you stated 'large area rug', will it fit in your washing machine. It may be easier to replace or possibly trade it for another.
Q: Is new carpets have pungent odour is because of low quality?
Don't use it, watch out blood platelets and leukocyte.
Q: Hair Dye was spilled on the carpet a couple of months ago we tried a couple of things ,even the carpet cleaners could not get it out, any suggestions ?
Dye is pretty permanent if the professional couldn't get it out either replace the carpet or put a scatter rug over the spot. I got a carpet I think its mohawk made that is from recycled plastic milk cartons, its a tad rougher than normal fiber but soft enough to sit on(not harsh like berber carpet), it can't be dyed anything that spills on it beads up even red koolaid just blots away, and pet stains.. it would be something to invest in..
Q: What's the purpose of an excercise rug? Does it really keep your horse warmn just on rhe hindquarters? But don't horses usually heat up with work. Can it be used walk, trot canter and too jump? I just want to know the purpose of this.
I use an exercise sheet in the winter when walking out to keep my horse warm as her back is clipped. I use mine for slow work or for warming up when riding as I can remove mine whilst riding as it wraps around the saddle. Generally you wouldn't need it once you start cantering and jumping. The other reason for using one is for visibility. Mine is fluorescent yellow so I use it as high viz gear when hacking out.
Q: I have a rug that will not stay put.I have tried the special stuff that they sell to put under rugs to help keep them from slipping. It didn't work.I have dried this special spray stuff that works kind of like the scrapbook glue that you can you can move about. It makes it like a restickable sticker. The sticky wears off quickly though.I have even tried putting felt on the back. That didn't work either. The floor I have it on it my bathroom floor. The tile in there is cheap. It is like the tile on the school floors. (I live in an apartment so I have no choice in that matter.) Part of the problem is also that my cats play tag and the rug seems to be base.Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep this rug from slipping so much?
A rubber-backed rug often works in bathrooms, especially on tile. Check in a craft or fabric store for rubber sheeting, then simply stitch it to the back of your rug - or you might want to use something like velcro to adhere it - and remove before washing.. I'm not sure if you can purchase rubber-backed rugs anymore... But - be careful trying to clean it, as most rubber will melt in a hot dryer.
Q: Would a chestnut suit this rug?
Yes! okorder / .. By the way, that same rug that you showed is in Robinsons (this website) for less :]
Q: my baby girl is 16 months old . she makes mess in her room. i have hardfloor, was wondering what kind of rug would be ok as she makes a mess. and can u plz suggest me other things to buy for her room to make it beautiful and nice at reasonable price thanx
you might want to avoid the rug as 1) it will collect dust mites more and if your baby has allergies, this will affect breathing 2) if there are spills (as babies are wont to do) they are harder to clean up and might stain your rug. if you really want a rug for the room, maybe a commercial rug. it is not too plush and comfy, but because of this, maintenence might be a lil easier and it shouldn't collect AS MUCH dust as other, more plush rugs would. Maybe also you might want to see about an area rug for the babies play area. these can be easily taken outside and dusted out, washed and what have you.
Q: i spilled 4 little dots of black fabric dye..is there a way to clean it with out messing up the carpet.
Your only option is to clip those fiber. Dye is permanent
