Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
Q: I have a small area rug that my coffee table sits on. I notice every day that the rug buckles up and I have to keep lifting up the table and setting and smoothing the rug out. Is there something I can do to keep the rug from doing that?
nail the corners down ? ?
Q: Erm... I spilled beer on my carpet.Do I need to use a carpet shampooer or can I just scrub it out? Does it stain?
If you have a carpet shampooer use it! Yes it will stain! To scrub it out here is a process I have used! Step 1Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent directly to the stain. Step 2Blot with a dry, white cloth. Step 3Flood the stain with ammonia. Step 4Blot again with the cloth. Step 5Flood the stain again, this time with white vinegar. Step 6Blot again with the cloth. Step 7Apply a little more liquid detergent to the stain. Step 8Blot again with the cloth. Step 9Flood once more with water. Step 10Blot one last time.
Q: I bought my son one but i don't know if its okay for him to drive it over on the carpet.
Its safe to run remote control cars on carpet, you should be careful of the type of the carpet because if it is shag or another long carpet there are chances that it will get wrapped up on the wheels. If it is an expensive carpeting cars with studded wheels are possibly not the best thing because when they are sliding around they can cause small snags, its nothing serious for normal high traffic carpet but something like carpet in your office where it is designed more for decoration than actually being walked over repeatedly with high traffic will suffer more. Short answer is normal short carpeting you can play with almost any type of car, shag or longer carpet taller cars with more lift is better, smooth carpeting something with harder racing or normal car wheels will do fine. Don't stress too much and have fun with your son, maybe you can get a car and the 2 of you can race them
Q: I am trying to find some used carpet for sale or for free to put in my garage any suggestions on where I coulda buy some or find some for free I live in the high desert in California
Go to your local mom and pop carpet store . Not the big box stores. Ask them. They have to dispose of carpet they rip out of homes and bussinesses and have to pay to have it hauled away from their store. I used to give it away like that to save costs. But this is often very dirty carpet so heads up. GL
Q: We live in a really modern apartment- it was once a warehouse and they developed them into apartments with exposed pipes and such. We just got some couches... they are destressed black so sometimes they look really dark brown in the light, but they are black. We have the original oak floors with all the scrapes and knots in the them. We have dark wood for all of our furniture. We are trying to figure out a color scheme for the living room and more importantly a rug that would go. Any advice would be great! It seems that all the colors we like have brown as the main color in the rug and we weren't sure if that would go.Thanks!
Open and airy can soon become dark and closed in if everything you put into a room is dark. There are plenty of rugs that have brown in them but aren't all brown. If the couches look brown work with that. Here's a link to look at rugs. Maybe find one you like and print a copy and put it up against the couch. Good luck!
Q: Is there some kind of carpeting that won't collect dust deep within its root? We're going to have most of our carpeting changed to laminate because I have HORRIBLE dust allergies, but we want to keep the carpeting in the living room and dining room. Is there some kind of hypo-allergenic carpeting?
I believe Berber carpeting helps with keeping the dust out as well as indoor/outdoor carpeting. Your best bet is to call a carpet store and ask them. May be a little more expensive than the cheap kind. Why don't you get rid of carpet all together and do some area rugs without wool and dust holding carpets. Then you can wash them or take them out side and shake them. Best of luck to you.
Q: The carpets in a house we placed an offer on are ick. Well they don't smell and most of the stains I think will clean out but they eventually need to be replaced. But due to other costs we have to address first we want to clean them. Is calling a professional steam cleaner the best way to go? Does steam cleaning really do a good job? We have shampood carpets before with horrible results.
steam cleaning does a good job. sometimes the companies will have specials, like $99 for 24x24 room and they move the furniture ting one with the shampoo will be about $50
Q: Does anyone know how to make homemade Kirby carpet shampoo?
Unless i am doing it fallacious the kirby doesnt suck the water again up off the floor like most commercial cleaners. So i'm thinking no you must use the distinctive stuff.. Now not sure though.
Q: i have about 12 rugs for my horse weatherbeeta turnout 600 denier saxon turnout 1200 denier, zilco canvus, two summer rugs and a polar fleece rug he is a thoroughbred and seems to need to be warm. im wondeing how many i have to put on him? and what are the best brands of horse rugs in australia victoria i hope i can get some good answers thanks! =]
In summer I use one good paddock rug (something light) and my summer shade, non rip light rug. So on the cool days and nights they where a paddock rug and the rest of the time their summer coats are protected from the sun - because we show. In the autumn I use a heavier winter rug (disappointed with my latest weatherbeeta - the straps have broken, leg straps and surcingle straps). Then just before winter comes I use an under rug as well. In the Spring as the temperature permits I undress my neds. I haven't used canvas rugs in a couple of years, but I certainly see them as more forgiving if they are left on the the horse gets a little warm. So while I love my weatherbeetas etc they are time consuming changing them along with the rain clouds. Happy riding.
