- Cassy, if you want new carpet then you will have to go to a carpet store. Some of the larger companies have end of line run out sales for carpets that they are replacing with a new pattern or colour so it's always worth asking, you might get last years carpet at a bargain. You could also look at some auction houses for carpet bargains. If you are okay with second hand carpet then have a look at some of the trader newspapers, we have trading post here in Melbourne and they are online too, Australia wide I think on the net. Some people will sell their old carpet when replacing it so check around. Also, you could contact some carpet installers because they are always ripping out old carpet when laying down new stuff. Ask them what they do with the carpet they are getting rid of. They might onsell it somewhere if it's in good shape. You can always jump on line and google 'second hand carpet'. I got a few hits when I did this so you might find something in your area.

- I had a rug like this, too..if I left it a week it would move 2 feet sideways. I think it is partly from static between the different materials in the two, and partly the longer tufts of the bottom carpet act as fingers to keep shifting the top one. That sticky rubbery underlay stuff only works on smooth hard floors. I've gone desperate and put long tacks into the corners of the rug, through to the floor. If you use large head ones they are easy to find and pull out sometimes, to vacuum under.

- Not a very nice thing to say about your mother. Bleach does not stain. (Now who looks soooooo smart) It has no color, it is a color remover. Nothing you can do to fix it on carpet but remove the carpet or replace it.
- Q: I dropped some candle wax on the carpet... How do I get it out?
- Often wax on carpet is just on the very tips of the fibers. If this is the case you can just snip the wax off with sharp scissors. Just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to do just one or two fibers at a time...not a whole clump. Dissect any wax clumps first by cutting them in half or thirds, so that you separate clumps. This will work unless you have already used an iron or otherwise melted the wax further in to the carpet. Also...cutting the wax off will work on shag or plush carpet, but not Berber or loopy carpet. Good luck. -

- not unless you replace the carpet a burn changes the chemical properties of the material there is no way to get it out or even make it less noticeable No way that first idea will work especially with multiple burns it would look terrible

- I am not a fan of rep.carpet, it a joke to me. tile works okay, but clean up can get messy if you don't clean it quickly, you still have some contamination issues with tile, especially if you are not spot cleaning really actively.

- you can't compel him to replace the carpet . pick your battles save it for real problems ,like plumbing or heating.
