When you perform electrolysis on water (regardless of whether you use straight DC or pulsed DC), all that you get is a mix of H2 and O2. This mythical HHO gas they're talking about simpy dos not exist because unless they're in a plasma (ultra-high temperature), hydrogen atoms immediately bond to form a hydrogen molecule (H2). So there is *no* magic HHO gas, just a mixture of hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) molecules in a 2:1 ratio. Q:I own a 2300 square foot home with an upstairs and downstairs heatpump. If I wanted to buy a generator to use in the event my power went down what size should I shoot for. Heat pumps are pretty big users of power. I would get at least a 3500 watt but that would be good for heat, fridge, a couple lights and a tv only. Bigger would be better. It may consume 5-10 gallons of gasoline per day. Running your own generator is not cheap.

While looking around I've come across a 200amp machine but it says it's a 200amp AC welder. it was my understanding that all welders are DC standard, and the AC current was only on welders to weld aluminum.

NO, you are wrong. Most simple common use welder runs on low voltage high current AC to weld steel, except plasma welder that requires very high voltage DC. Of course, portable welder runs on battery power high current DC where AC power source is not available.

Does the Esab welder have high frequency? If so the high freq. is feeding back into the generator and frying the electronics. You may need to have the generators repaired. The only way to prevent damage is to turn the high freq. off, or drive an earth ground as close to the welder as possible and you have to run a wire to your grounding clamp to this ground and the machine ground needs to go to this also. You have to get the high freq. out of the circuit as quick as possible. (I have a Hobart Champion Fabshop that is notorious for this.)
