- Q:I really like the sound that a blow-off valve makes when they are in audi tts. So I was wondering if I got one for my '02 225hp Audi tt if it would damage the engine in any way. I have read that diverter valves are better, but I want the sound of the blow-off valve. Also any recommendations on blow-off/diverter valves would be great.
- Blow off valves are nice, but they aren't terribly good for your car. The main problem is that when the turbo isn't running, that open valve will suck unfiltered air into the engine and can seriously damage it. Blow offs are also pretty inefficient as you lose a good portion of the air in your turbo system. The best thing you can do is just get a good Forge diverter valve. Well made, looks nice, and will add a pretty decent amount of performance.
- Q:Long story short, have a 2001 acura tl had a rough idle/ no start issue. figured out by disconnecting vaccuum from the throttle body the idle was fine with the TB pulling air through the disconnected hose port. The hose i disconnected leads to the purge valve solenoid. I removed it and it is closed (no air flow), restarted car with hose disconnected and solenoid still harnessed in (still closed). Just need more info on the function of this thing and what it should be doing.. Can i bench test it with +12V and ground on the two pins? Thanks in advance.

- Q:Ive been tolding one or more of my valves is/are knocking, how can I fix this. Detail would be great, this is for a F0RD 460, from a 90. I was wondering if I can just buy some used heads(not sure if this comes with these things called valves, haha)but I can pick up some 460 heads, for pretty cheap.. on those and do a full swap, since mine is from 90 i dont know if year would matter. So how can I fix knocking valves., thanks
- Valve noise is usually caused by a bad hydraulic lifter, or a worn cam lobe, sometimes wear in the rocker arms also. I don't think changing the heads would help much in your case. I woud get a good mechanic to listen to it, and tell you first ok, because sometimes, just changing the oil and putting in an additive will stop noisy valves good luck
- Q:are the carborator reed valves supposed to be open or closed on a 1999 yz 250?dirt bike
- reed valves depend on engine vacuum to operate. the reed valves are closed when the engine is off and as the engine load goes up, it requires more fuel so engine vacuum goes up causing the reed valves to open more, letting in more fuel. So, is the engine running or off?. are the reeds bent? if they are, they might be straightened if u use care. they break ez.

- Sounds to me, like you have one of two things happening. Either you have a leak, which needs to be fixed. Or the valve box is in a low area where the water drains to... Turn on the water and watch the valves.. you might be able to see where the water is coming from. It may be as simple as tightening down the valve screws, or you may need to turn off the water at the main and repair or replace it. If the water is draining there or the leak isn't all that terrible the only way drain rock would help is if you were to dig underneath the valve a little, and to replace what you dig out with rock... Just make sure you can still access everything when you are finished. Good Luck!

We didn't find any wood, so I took his trumpet valve oil, dripped some on a piece of wood that wouldn't burn and make it smoke up. Does burning valve oil have any negative side effects as opposed to say, regular oil? I shouldn't have been so lazy and just used vegetable oil or something haha....
- Valve oil is basically just mineral oil and various other ingredients. You can buy pure oil, and it's also the main ingredient in baby oil and other medicines. Nothing wrong with burning it.

- Q:I'm in the process of replacing my dishwasher but I have a problem. I followed the water line from the dishwasher to under my sink and found a red valve that was completely straight, so I turned it to the right as tight as it would go and tried removing the hex nut connecting the line to the dishwasher. Maybe i'm wrong, but there is a lot of water coming out of the line and I don't think it's supposed to. I easily filled up a bowl you would use to mix cakes and it was still going! - If you have cut off valves below water lines going to the dish washer,turn them off. There should be a hot and cold water line. Red is used to designate the hot water line and blue for the cold water line. If all else fails,turn the water off at the water meter,this turns off the water to the whole house.

- I never considered VOX a crunchy amp, has more of a jangle sound to me. Not sure what wattage you are looking for. In my opinion you don't need many watts in a class A tube amp. I heard an Orange Tiny Terror through a Marshall cabinet recently and it was awesome. I am considering that head with the Orange 2 x 12 cabinet. That head is only 15 watts but man is it loud...and crunchy.
