Q:Question on Diesel Power generators?
The engine can run indefinitely without needing to stop for a rest provided it is properly maintained and cooled. You should change the oil and filters after every 200 hours operating time. Properly maintained you should expect at least 25-30 years operating time from the engine. Neglected and it could need replacing in less than 10. Not sure what 161 gsm/hp-hr means. Unlikely to be grams, but gallons per horsepower hour would be extremely high. Need to look further into it
Q:Kipor Diesel generator?
Dont buy anything Chinese. They are not interested in customer satisfaction or quality and just want to shift as much product as possible. The materials are usually sub-standard and the build quality is total rubbish! I guess it depends what you want it for? If it is a one off use and then you are prepared to throw it away then maybe consider it but otherwise spend even double the amount and get some equipment that can be serviced and that has a customer service and back up plan. It will be more value in the long run. It is also more patriotic.
Q:Is it possible to see the difference between an electric train and a diesel train?
An electric train will have either overhead cables or a third rail which feeds the current to the traction motors. In the case of a train which draws its power from overhead cables, there is a device fixed to the roof called a pantograph which picks up the power. Typically it looks like a diamond-shaped frame or an angled arm with a bar on top which makes contact with the electric cable. Edit: Also clearly visible are the rows of masts and gantries alongside and over the track, which support the overhead wires. A diesel train is self-contained, in other words it does not rely on any external power source. Noise from an electric train is minimal. You may hear whining from the motors and a cracking or clicking sound from the switch banks and circuit breakers, but not much else. A diesel train on the other hand has a noticeable exhaust sound, which can vary from one train to another but is clearly audible and fairly loud, the exhaust is visible as it is expelled from the outlet vents, and the exhaust can also be smelt. The tang of diesel exhaust is unmistakeable. Other than that, the body design of diesel and electric trains tends to be similar, so in telling them apart you will need to look for the details as above. Edit: re Mitchey's answer, last paragraph. Mostly right, but there is one type of locomotive in use in the UK called the electro-diesel which can operate on a third rail system, or under its own power using a built-in diesel powered generator, over tracks where there is no third rail.
Q:What energy conversions exist when popping popcorn?
Starting from the pop and moving towards the energy source The kinetic energy of the popped kernel converting to heat when the kernel comes to rest. The kinetic energy of the kernel from the explosion due to steam and the steam escapes with kinetic and heat energy that transfers to the ambient air as the steam condenses and then the droplets fall and convert kinetic energy to heat. Potential energy in the steam as it builds pressure inside the kernel The transfer of heat from the burner into the popping vessel to raise the temperature of the moisture inside the kernel to make steam Where did the energy come from to heat the burner? I will assume it is electrical energy created from a diesel generator peaker plant nearby There is resistance in the burner heating element that converts the electric current to heat. There is also resistance in the wires and transmission lines and transformers that carry the electricity from the power plant to the burner, which is all lost to heat. The electricity is created from a generator where there is an wire-wound aperture spinning in the presence of a magnetic field. The kinetic energy of the aperture gets converted to the electrical energy and sent out on the transmission lines. The kinetic energy of the aperture is created inside a diesel engine by connecting it to the crank shaft - some friction losses due to bearing surfaces. The kinetic energy of the crank shaft is created from an explosion inside a piston. The explosion creates an expansion of gases that push the piston, which spins the crank shaft. Some of this energy is lost to heat dissipatin and friction. The explosion was from the conversion of the chemical energy in the diesel fuel to heat. The pressure in the piston caused the fuel and oxygen mixture to explode. How's that? j
Q:How do I prevent a flashback from blowing up my HHO generator?
If you use the term 'HHO', you sound like an idiot. There's no such chemical. There's H2, there's O2, and there's H2O. Electrolysis of H2O (aka water) produces H2 (hydrogen) and O2 (oxygen) gas. Burning H2 (reacting it with O2) produces H2O. Nowhere in this process is anything called 'HHO' produced. But the bigger isue is why you'd even want to put hydrogen gas into your car engine. It is designed to burn gasoline (or diesel), not hydrogen. Putting hydrogen into a gasoline engine is like a human eating a rock. Sure, it's possible, but it doesn't give you any benefits, and it could cause serious problems.
Q:how to compare efficiencies for a diesel and a diesel-electric engine?
That is a good question! We do not want to make things to be too good, we after all live in a capitalistic society. If we wanted to make this very good we would have a 2 stroke diesel that runs on a mixture of 51% ethanol and 49% water with a caster oil lube. Then we could tune this engine to only run at a speed that is matched to the speed of a PM generator. Using this as the basis of the hybrid system. One gallon of ethanol makes almost 2 gallons of fuel. So right off the bat you would have double the fuel economy. Then another double for the hybrid system. Now you add a few PV panels to the roof so that your car will charge while you are in work. You might NEVER need to buy any fuel. But who is going to invest in a machine that does not make lots of money for somebody? After all we can not sell sunshine now can we. John.
Q:How does a generator work in a geothermal power plant? ?
This website shows the entire process animatedly so it's kind of hard to explain. I, myself am a visual person so this should help. It even shows how the generator in the picture works. www1.eere.energy.gov/geothermal/g Since generators are usually powered by turbines, which in turn are powered by energy sources for example geothermal energy, then what you are looking for is not a specific type of generator, but a regular generator which can be found in any type of power plant. Generators and motors are very closely related and many motors that contain permanent magnets can also act as generators. If you move a permanent magnet past a coil of wire that is part of an electric circuit, you will cause current to flow through that coil and circuit. That's because a changing magnetic field, such as that near a moving magnet, is always accompanied in nature by an electric field. While magnetic fields push on magnetic poles, electric fields push on electric charges. With a coil of wire near the moving magnet, the moving magnet's electric field pushes charges through the coil and eventually through the entire circuit. howthingswork.virginia.edu/electr

Q:Melt down of local Nuclear Generating station,NJ?
The answer depends entirely on the kind of accident or incident. It is not possible to predict without the hypothetical accident type, since not all accidents result in a core meltdown, and there are different ways for the core to end up in melt down situation. The danger zone also depends a great deal on the wind and weather conditions at the time and immediately afterwards. Obviously, if the wind is blowing from your location toward the plant, then there is less likelihood that you will be contaminated.
Q:what is difference between air cooled diesel engine & water cooled diesel engine?
the air cooled one is a duitz air diesel . they are very reliable about the only maintenance it will ever need is filters and the cooling fins cleaned from time to time. it is lighter than a water cooled version and freezing will not hurt it.
