- Q: i have black n white curtains in my room,a dark brown bed and a pair of long-back chairs ( don't know what to call those)with a black leatherite covering.Now if somebody could please help me with the rug. What colour and type should i have?
- looks like everything is black and white do you have another color? tan or brown? that would look good as accents including the rugs

- Q: I recently had an incident with my toddler and a light candle. The wax went all over the carpet.. bright red wax, and white carpet. I have tried using a carpet cleaner and hand scrubbing it with a brush. Any ideas how to get it out? Thanks
- Place towel over hardened wax, them press the iron over the area until wax melts and sticks to the towel. Spray a little water on the wax before ironing. But the red color is another problem entirely. Once you get the wax out tho you might be able to use a cleaner on it to get the color out.

- Q: I have 13 grandchidren and want to put in a carpet that is stain resistant and wearable
- Guitar has some very good points on the stain resistance in a carpet but I have to choose a pure nylon carpet for durability. These fibers are treated now with a heat set in texture retention that when properly cleaned the fibers will come back to life and stand back up. These fibers you are walking on the tops of , and this is what you want. Berber , since your walking on the yarn side, has a tendency to matt and crush. Most berbers are also made of an Olefin/ nylon mix. While Olefin is a good stain block by nature, it is a softer yarn. So it boils down to a good stain blocker set into the fiber as its made ( not topically applied ) nylon and a good anti matt/ anti crush warranty. Nothing less than 10 years. Not all stuff will come out of a carpet . The trick is to properly treat spills right away and in a way the manufacturer suggests. Plus the daily vacuuming and at a minimum of once a year a professional , certified carpet cleaner. Mohawk and shaw make some good products. I lean toward Mohawk because I sold it for almost 20 years. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: A large area of office carpet was blisters, what good method can quickly dry and mildew?
- The carpet will be opened, with a blower to dry.
- Q: I recently dropped a small spot of bleach on cream colored carpet. Is there any way to dye the carpet back? It is a spot about the size of a quarter.
- You can dye the carpet back and that is the only way to fix bleach stains. I am not sure where you can buy carpet dye but it is not that hard. Dilute the dye with water in a spray bottle and spray the bleach spot and absorb with rag. Continue until desired colored is reached. It is not always perfect but works. Or you can call a local carpet cleaning company. They can do it and they charged me about 50 bucks too.
- Q: How to clean the glue on the carpet?
- If it is chewing gum or flexible glue like double faced adhesive tape or Black & Decker glue ( full- purpose adhesive), and banana oil. use the volatile oil, but the carpet will be damaged, chloroform and hot water containing soda are the best. transformer oil and rosin water can also be used; if it is glass glue, acetic acid could be used(vinegar essence, nail color remover); if it is 502, it is afraid of heat and alkalis; if it is epoxy resin (combining of two kinds of glues), white vinegar), Fengyoujing could be used if you are afraid of pollute the air.
- Q: My apartments carpet has been totaled over the years. I was living with a bad roommate and the carpet in his room has been ruined in various places because of stains. But i was looking at my lease and it says that it has a 5 year scale of 1200 dollars. I live in Ohio What can i expect when i move out in regards to the carpet. I have lived in my apartment for 8 years when my current lease expires.
- each state has its own rules but when one has rented 8 yrs it is a given that the carpet will have to be replaced, unless extreme care was taken to maintain it
